'05-'06 320i Europe/Asia=150HP,N.America=170HP ??

Wat Up Wit Dat ???? My 320i which i got a month ago had an I-6 2.2L with 170HP , but some other countries in Europe/Asia has the 4 cyl. 150HP.The 320i here in CANADA is being replaced by the 323i which has only about 4-7 HP more??? Any truth to this?? Why does BMW do this??Is it true down there in the States/USA too??

Not complaining at all,Actually quite impress and glad i got one of the last 2005 pre 2006 models. All i need now is a very good panel filter, exhaust system catback and im set to hit 200hp mark.
Anybody elese notice this...I know everyone if not all has/have the 323's/325's/330's.It's just that why the 320i/320d are so under rated these days, when its the base car that wins most if not all the WTCC competitions.

Cheers !!! :rocks:

The E46 320i was replaced by the E90 323i

323i has aroung 7 HP more.

No way is a exhast and filter going to get you near 30Hp more on the E46

E90 320i is the replacement for the E46 318i, hence why it has a 4 cylinder engine.

There is a 'displacement tax' in some Asian countries. I think the cut off point is around 2L. My brother-in-law in Hong Kong mentioned that even the annual registration fees goes up with engine displacement, IIRC.

As far as getting 30hp from an air filter and an exhaust system...good luck with that.

Among little other things that you can add like Stickers and Shit??? You know what i mean??

Kidding aside, there are other mods that you can do without really going over board. If i can get around 200horses with a modest add-ons..why not.All im saying is that with very little $$$ you can. That's all!!..Those are just the beginning...Dont get your pants all tied up now.

Cheers BTW?? Here she is in Steel Blue

Right; the 320/323 (e90) is the acknowledgement that Canada's affordability index is a little higher than in the US and BMW felt a lower level model was required to do what the 325 does in the US.

Other manufacturers also do this (GM sells cars here not available in the US as entry level) in different ways (Acura has a pimped up Civic in Canada-the features of which are available in the US as a Civic - under the Acura nameplate (the CSX now, EL previously), this is both to compensate for the much-higher than in the US price of a Civic with those features here and offer an entry level Acura closer to the affordability ratio of the TSX in the US.

And unless you blow her you ain't getting to 200 - and that ain't cheap.
