What Winter Tire Should I Get?

i have a 2006 330i and was shopping around for winter tires. I'm in the mid east so i don't get harsh winters but do get some snow and it gets real cold? I have extra Star Spoke 162 rims so i figured i should put winter tires on them. any suggestions?
Thanks,

Blizzaks are great for deeper snow/ice. I have dunlop 3d's, great on dry and good on snow ice.

I can tell you what to NOT get I bought some Goodyear Eagle GW3 runflats which were the highest rated at TireRack one year ago, and they suck even in the lightest snow. On the dry, performance is amazing, but on the wet and snow they behave like all-seasons...
They are also very heavy and have an extremely stiff sidewall (alot worse than the RE050A RFT).

I put on Blizzak WS60 this past season and it served me very well. Most of the conditions were light snow to slush due to wisconsin's crazy plowing efficiency but I felt very confident in the RWD setup with winter tires. What size are the 162's you are talking about because Style 162 rims are ellipsoid and 18 inches, which for me is a bit large for winter. I run 16s in winter, but that's because I only have the style 156's all year :|

Not yet, but check back in mid to late September and there should be many more options. Winter tires are seasonal and you're just shopping a bit too early.

Enjoy the summer while it is still here!
