Who has the Performance exhaust? I can't find any videos of an 335is with performance exhaust anywhere. I'm trying to see if I want to keep my iS exhaust or upgrade to performance.

Pretty much everyone who has changed out the 'is' exhaust has regretted it. You'll find more info searching for comparisons between the standard PE and the PE that comes on the 'is.' I remember seeing some comparo's awhile back.

Thanks. I will say 24 hours into the 435 Gran Coupe I am missing the 335is. The 435 is like a spaceship with all the tech and gadgets. Going to take a while to get used to. It also does not sounds anything like the 335is. I am hoping to remedy that next week when I have the MPPK and MPE installed.

I agree. Do not touch the stock exhaust except maybe to golf tee it.

The stock exhaust is very nice. It has a raspy tone and burbles quite a bit for being stock. If you want something a little deeper and more defined, look into something like the AA exhaust. The BMW PE will be just a little louder than the IS exhaust. IMO, it is not worth the money nor cutting your factory IS setup. They are basically the same just the IS exhaust is factory and not labeled the BMW PE plus it has just a tad bit more muffling inside the actual muffler.

I switched to the AA exhaust after getting a pretty good deal on one. I kind of regretted it but it grew on me. As I mentioned earlier, the PE is a little bit more raspy, high pitched, semi loud and burbles. My AA exhaust is loud when getting on it, a little quiter during normal driving, but way deeper of a tone. It is a hard choice!

I've been thinking about doing N55 mids, has anyone done that on their iS?

I just got my car back and tried the Cobb tune. One question, I have catless downpipes and I need an inspection right now but the check engine came up because of them. I used to have the jb4 that took care of it, how can I set up the Cobb to do that? Thanks

Wink

Looking for the perfect exhaust for our iS's? Read below. Try it out, guaranteed you will not regret it!

I also tried an AE dual cat back with DP's and it sounded good but not how I wanted it to sound, low deep rumble sound.

I also tried the PE without DP's and thought the stock 335is exhaust sounded better without DP's vs. the PE without DP's.

While considering to get rid of the PE, I reinstalled the DP's and the sound changed to something that puts a huge smile on my face each and every time I hear it. My friends compliment me about the sound and one of my friends reassured me with these exact words 'As much as I hate stroking your ego, definitely had an eargasm when you took off. Don't change a thing that bitch sounds amazing! But yea sounds really really good. Like TT Lambo status.'

335is + DP's + PE = 'Eargasm'

Also like the fact that the PE is an OEM BMW Performance part and resale value is good. Was thinking about keeping my stock 335is exhaust but am debating the benefit of holding on to it.

What I don't like are the exhaust tips the PE comes with, thin as soda cans! But not terrible looking, will eventually replace with some black chrome double walled tips TIG'd.

Try out the PE if your looking for that specific sound that puts a smile on your face every time you drive it. The stock iS exhaust is absolutely great sounding without DP's, with DP's is not the same story unfortunately, adding DP's to stock exhaust makes it sound like shit and raspy as fvck.

Not me. PE + DP's = eargasm.

You guys should hear how it sounds with a PE and DP's. Anybody in LA / OC want to take a listen, PM me.

The PE is worth it and is not the same. Both exhausts are tuned for a different type of sound. Also, it's not just the difference in packing material inside the mufflers. The PE is straight thru, whereas the iS exhaust is not.

That's for sure, it is a hard choice! But you can't expect a winning sound just by throwing any exhaust on our cars. It's a personal preference at the end of the day, but trust me when I say the PE is totally worth a try. Try to buy used and worst comes to worst sell it if you don't like it.

This is something I would be interested in to see how it sounds with the stock exhaust and DP's as well as PE + DP's.

And don't worry guys I still have my stock iS exhaust in storage just in case

IIRC the off the shelf maps don't disable the Service Engine Soon light on the dash. But my Pro Tune from PTF has it disabled. Not sure if this is a option open to end users unless you have the Cobb tuning software, I think.

You can get the light turned off, just need a tuner to disable it in the DME /flash settings for the map.

I had the N55 with Catless DP and OEM + golf tee mod exhaust (sound nasty)...

Very surprise to see secondary cats on my IS, would also be interested to see if anybody has done this and what sound and restriction difference it makes.
