phones
i have just bought a nokia n78 and 6220 classic which are both new models and after about 3 weeks they started playing up.the problem was when i answered the phone using steering wheel they would reboot and havbe to be paired again.if i answered using the phone they were o.k. bmw are behind with the bluetooth technoligy as the phones you can use are now out of date.the best phone i found was the sony ericsson k810i no faults at all.
bmw need to pull their finger out and stay up to date within reason |

On the Blackberry site, KB04714 indicates that phones with software from 4.1 have integrated with BMW address book since 2005. In KB04009 indicates that all factory installed car kits (BMW Assist package) work with Blackberrys. I took a quick look at the warranty and didn't see anything that said "except for bluetooth." We worked with four dealers, over a period of a couple of weeks, before we got the car. None of them mentioned phone compatibility. BMW says they have a site on the internet for everybody to see. However, you only see it if you go looking for it. In that the original sales person paired the phones, i had no reason to look. If I can't get this straightened out, I'll look to void the original contract based on hiding the compatibility problems and lack of warranty. If you check the Lexus site, they pair with so many more phones, I might get the impression that there is something not up to par with the BMW unit. For a historical perspective, this isn't my first BMW. I've had several and the first was a 2002 (model not year). I'll apologize now to those members that I've put off. |

I have an old Motorola V710 on Verizon's network. Paired flawlessly.

Yes, new 2009 iDrive and a new Blackberry Curve 8330 pairs every time, quickly (less than 5 sec) and transfers the phone book instantly.
Previous phone (LG VX8700) paired about 1/2 the time and would not transfer the phone book. New Samsung Omnia paired every time, but slowly and transfered the phone book. They just released a snap in cradle for the smartphone integration kit for the Blackberry Curve 83xx

X1
Does the Sony Ericsson Xpedia X1 work with the 2009 iDrive i.e connect and phonebook transfer? I need to choose between this and the Samsung Innov8, which does not transfer the phonebook but seems to stay connected at least.

Phone list as of Oct 2008
Tested phones by BMWNA as of Oct 2008.
The difference is that most bluetooth phones will work, but if they are not on this list, BMW cannot support questions that you may have with issues such as pairing, loss of phonebook etc... Regards. |

It should be.
Check the known issues on the bottom of the list with the phones. Most fixes are available from the manufacturer. Obviously BMWNA can't test every phone out there but the majority should work fine. Cheers |

Hi
Any experiences to share regarding the latest CIC (?) systems? i.e. late 2008 / 2009 production "new" I-Drive systems? I've tried both N95 and E61i both with and without the Nokia 600 or 800 contacts loader and no joy. A similar aged 320d with only Professional Radio worked great with my E61i (even with 380+ contacts) and only in less than 5 minutes of pairing and without the contact loader. But back in my brand new E91 Touring , even more challenging is that there does not seem to be a mode in which you can send contacts via bluetooth to the car. So all round, fine for making and receiving calls but no joy with address book sync . Unless I can send contacts via Connected Drive, it all seems hopeless. Any thoughts any one? Cheers (Sorry, I also posted elsewhere and then realized this might be the better place) |
