make sure your headlight switch is in the 'A' position - which is clicked over to the far left on my car. I think yours is the same.

Did it suddenly stop working? It might be a setting in with the other headlight settings - you can access it from the stalk/screen within the gauge cluster.

if you had your cars software updated to the new version. you will lose that feature. at least for the e90s..so it should apply to e92s also

sorry to drag up an old thread, but I have the exact same problem as the OP. In my case there were no software updates, so I don't think that theory is correct. So far my dealer is stumped. Did anyone manage to fix this?

Could possibly be from a weak/dying battery, so the car is trying to conserve battery power.

The manual explains how to set which lights turn on when the car is unlocked

My manual only mentions that side lights and interior lights will come on for a period when unlocking the car when the light switch is in auto or low-beam position. There's nothing about setting which lights come on, and there's no idrive option for doing it. My car is 10/2006 build.

I think the low battery is a possibility. I'm getting the low battery warning soon after turning off the ignition. I can't find any conclusive proof though, and my dealer didn't mention this as a possible cause. They've downloaded everything from my car and sent to head office in Melb to look at.

Is there a setting in i-Drive for this... Check the Lighting setting and make sure that "Welcome Lights" are on.

There's no "welcome light" setting for me. Maybe its only in later versions.

My bad, I thought you just wanted the lights to flash. I have no idea why they wouldn't come on if they did before unless BMW changed something in the software.

Sorry to drag up an old thread - mine's been doing this...was there ever any resolution?

I have iDrive, welcome lights set to on, switch on Auto as it always is...it'll light up the angels one time I unlock it but not the next...super weird.

start the car, then turn it off, then lock the car, and finally unlock it. see if that works. the car conserves battery so the lights (angel eyes) will not turn on after certain "unlocks"
