Hey guys noob questions..

1. Is this the same DCT offered in the current M3's? Meaning does it shift as fast and hard as they do [which I'm hoping for]
2. When doing the launch, is the 7 seconds of boost automatically enabled?
3. When can you enable that boost and how often?
4. What mechanical differences are there between the IS and a 335.

Sorry for the lame-o questions. Rather hear the responses directly from owners and what other advice opinions they have about my questions. Thanks!

Very similar. Yes it does shift as fast.

Yes

Whenever you want, however it is said to only give you that boost under hard acceleration from a standstill. It's hard to tell though when the car is under extra boost in highway situations with the button on. What is noticeable is how much quicker the shift times are with the button enabled. Throttle response also increases noticeably.

Mechanical differences aren't huge. Pretty much comes down to extra cooling. You have an extra oil cooler, an extra radiator, a higher output radiator fan, stiffer engine mounts, performance exhaust, DCT option, boost button, more hp and more tq, more psi at all times. Suspension remains the same which is a huge BUST.

1. It shifts hard when you have sports and manual mode or sports mode on, and turned off its smooth. but on the m3 you can adjust the gear hitting to lv 1-5 so it hits harder on m3.

2 If you do the launch control, you'll see a yellow race flag enable the boost. from the full sprint you'll notice the gears grind the redline abit to strech em out.

3 boost is enable when going into launch control. not sure how you use it without launching the car from a dig.

4. from the diffrence ive known from my old 335i and this one. i ride with my window down all the time and ive notice it backfires like every shift at high rpm lol. the shifts are smooth on regular drive. but once switched to sports or any type of sports or manual shifting. you can feel abit of a bump everytime you shift it hard. ive notice alot in the iS than the normal 335i. sorry for my typo, trying to finish this long paragraph rather than take my time to correct my spellings.

^ have you noticed that the shifts are smoother but much faster with the boost button on? I don't like using the button because the shifts sound way better and seem more harsh when using regular M1-7 with the paddles.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but what "boost button"? I have an IS as well, but its a manual. Do I have one as well? (I feel so dumb right now)

It is below your shifter and says SPORT on it. That's the button that increases the PSI and torque on hard accelerating conditions from a standstill. Also necessary for launch control, though it doesn't apply on standard transmissions.

For any of you considering high HP mods... know that the DCT in the 'is' is different than in the M3. As of now, the 335is DCT would need a clutch pack upgrade ($2,100 from SPP) to effectively handle a tune with FBO & meth.

Im near speechless. Holy _____. I did not drive it as hard as i wanted too... semi wet, its super late and dark and so on. Will report back tomorrow. NA mode= amazing, and LOW end torque is unreal and 80-100 is just absurd... compared to stock, its all relative. Now all i need to do is get some traction...

EDIT: forgot to add. Threw on some dual cone that i got for 65 bucks... WOW you can here those turbos.. in a garage is too much fun especially with top down...

Both the Procede and the JB4 have to reduce boost in the shift otherwise there is slippage (and hence a slippage-delay) from excess torque when the clutch engages during gear changes. With a tune and intake we'll be fine, but with fbo's and more boost there will be a need for an upgrade.

There was a thread about it here on e90, but I cant find it anymore. There is some discussion of it here: http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11135

Link to SSP's clutch pack upgrade:
http://www.sspperformance.com/produc...roducts_id=135

Its something to keep in mind. I'm posting this for the benefit of those considering high HP mods.
