E92: Apexcone HID kits?
Has anyone tried this kit: http://www.ddmtuning.com/ap55wwesa.html on their e92 fog lamps? Pretty cheap kit and I'm not sure if it will throw a code.

Cheap garbage. I've been through 2 kits, 3 ballasts and 2 bulbs. It didn't throw a code in my car , but I still can't get it to function for more than a month. I have another bad ballast right now. I bought them from a seller called Dabears2k. They got shipped from that same address in san Diego, so that crook must be associated with them in some way.

Yeah, now ask them how much they charge for shipping to send you any replacement items. I've spent more on shipping so far than you will on the whole kit. Not to mention that they sent one bulb in a box where it got broken, and they wouldn't cover it. I had to buy another one. Nothing is free.

I had it one of the kits on my E92 335xi for testing purpose. It was error free, but I didn't like the color output. The 5000K kit they sent me looks blue / green to me.

95% of all the kits sold in the market are made by one company in Taiwan, with branding being the only difference. Reason why some people have ballasts or bulbs going bad is not due to the quality but the lack of stable power. Most car's factory wiring except for the low beams are not made to handle HID, which draws 3-4x more power on startup. Easiest solution is to install a relay kit to draw power direct from battery and provides better grounding to the ballasts. |
