My co-worker just brought his 5 series for an oil change from "Accent the BMW Specialist" in Lawndale...paid around $70. He said the place was clean and very professional.

+1 for The M Shop. 85 Bucks is decent. However the place was a bit far for me...thats why I booked a Saturday appointment 2 or 3 weeks in advance!

Yeah, except I don't have a jack, stands or creeper and living in an apartment makes me sad at the thought of having to store those things.

Dude, I'll help you, just bring your ride over, but it would have to be some time in July cuz I'll be in Hawaii for the whole month of June. Also, like I said before, don't worry too much about changing the oil early. I changed mine at 5200 miles and the oil was still as clear as the new oil and the filter was relatively clean.

Is there a shop around who has quality oil/filter (bmw oem prefered) that can do the change for me for quite a bit less than what the dealership charges me?

Only catch is you have to take amex and I'd prefer that you are in the long beach/whittier/riverside area.

Thanks!

you can do your own oil chang for less than 100..

u need a special tool for it.

Part Number Description Price Qty.
05348 Tool - Oil Filter Housing Cap with 17mm hex head
$14.95

http://www.bavauto.com/shop.asp

You can reset your oil counter manually from BC console. you need to follow the procedure to do it. YOU DONT NEED GT1 OR DIS OR ANYTHING ELSE.
SPECIAL tool and BC

here is the procedure for it

resetting oil count down once you change your oil on the engine on e90 335i. it is kinda easy

first! you have to turn your car to kl 15. KOEO.
second! you wait for all of the sensor to complete check on the KOMBI.
KOMBI is your intrument cluster on your dash board.
once you see time indicator, then you press and hold the knob on the KOMBI (bottom left of the dash board on the KOMBI) until you see oil indicator
after that you scroll the part with your BC control on the left of the steering wheel.
select on service maintance. scroll up until you see oil counter ( for example, you have about 1500 mile until you bring your car to the dealership)
after that you press in the button on the BC selection. than you hold it until it reset it. This will take about 2 to 3 mins long.

finallly you just reset your oil counter.

My car is too low(4 1/2 inches from side skirt to floor level), dont' think the Jack will be low enough to slide under.
