JB3 Dyno Results

Hey Guys,

Just visited my local Dynojet today and thought I'd share my results for others. My modifications are limited to just JB3 V1.3 & BMS Intake. All things considered, the gains were modest yet reasonable considering 91 Octane and a 95 Degree air temperature.

One thing that did stick out was my Map 3 run. My car did not like that map at all. I was in such disbelief that I ran Map 3 a 2nd time on the Dyno and the results proved consistent. Map 1 and 5 proved to be superior to Map 3 during today's conditions. Anyways, attached are the graphs for your viewing pleasure

Edit: Removing graphs -- Made several noobie mistakes which affected the outcome of the HP/Torque curves. Will be updating my software and will re-read the Dyno DIY tutorial before running on the Dyno again. Will post my runs in the next week or so.

Looks like you not making or barely any HP at all, just a bit of TQ. I'd contact BMS. How's the car running btw?

Car is running fine -- Although I must say, it does seem a bit more sluggish after installing my intake. I'm considering placing the stock filter on to do some comparison runs.

Map 0 should be just like stock, so you're only showing a 13hp increase on map 5...

Or the dyno is fucked. If he has any friends with similar mods they should dyno their 335 there.

Something is seriously wrong there. Did you buy the JB3 new or used? If used, are you sure 1.3 final was loaded? You'll definitely want to contact BMS for help in sorting it out.

Given the oscillation all over the place even on map 0 I don't think it has anything to do with 91 octane or the temperature. Probably some sort of boost leak.

Mike

I think the first question should be is your car an auto or manual? If it's an auto contact Terry and he will advise you how to set up the dyno pull. The auto has to be in the right gear and top of the curve before making the pull because it keeps I think downshifting. I could be wrong on the details but I know he said we have to do something different with the autos on the dyno.

Map 0 which is stock you can tell your boost is going crazy, so there is something wrong with the CAR not the tune. Get a BT cable and try to troubleshoot.

As others have stated, something is definitely wrong....likely is something with your car.

actually if you saw the graphs his boost is oscilating /pulsing badly. That tends to be something like a boost leak.

Haha, I meant "is" not "isn't." LOL, that's what happens when you start typing in bed right after you wake up.

I just heard from BMS who has been working with OP. It turns out the dyno operator was not pushing the gas pedal to the kick down! OP is going to update to 1.4 beta and retest. 291rw isn't too bad for 3/4 throttle though.

Yes -- Noobie mistake on my part. I'm disappointed yet relieved that the sub-par results are from human error and not from boost leak or worse. V1.4 will be loaded shortly (currently running an older outdated map) and will adjust to the proper procedure for the dyno run. Stay tuned for updated results.

Kudos to Terry for helping me isolate and determining the issues
