Alpine HID Bulb replacements?

So my driver side Alpine HID 6000K bulb becomes very discolored after warmup and no longer matches the other side. I would like to track down replacement bulbs. But what sort of bulbs are used in the Alpine HID kit? New to buying such bulbs.

The Alpines are super bright, could they be 55w?

They are 35W, it should say the same on the ballasts.

I thought I had a bulb burn out, but it was the ballast. I had search for an indentical replacement but could only find the below kit with digital slim ballast and same part number. Thought it was a bonus as they picture the same labeling on the bulbs as the Alpine kit. However, the bulbs arrived and looked different (cheaper) then the actual bulbs that Alpine used.

So any 35w HID bulb will work? I will look at the ballasts, but I assume I can use the existing ballasts? I hear the quality of the bulb is super important with all the US these bulbs can put out they can yellow your rings if they are not properly shielded. Any suggestions? I saw some GP Thunder HID Bulbs.

HID bulbs/ballasts come in either AC or DC, make sure they match each other or else the bulb will fail quickly. I'm quite sure Alpine kits are AC but you should check before you buy. A quality AC bulb can be had for under $20.

Sorry for the 21 questions, but I'm totally a noob to lighting. Are Alpines H8 bulbs? H1? Will the ballast have any info as to the type...AC or DC?

I hope you're not using these in your angel eyes. Many horror stories about the rings turning yellow because of too much UV exposure from the HIDs.

Where are the HID installed, that would help us determine the bulb?

The bulbs I'm trying to find are for the Alpine HID Angel Eyes setup. You can find reviews and posts about them all over the forums. I don't see much from them anymore as of late. Alex from Alpine installed them himself with all the wiring and ballasts. Have worked great and with quality bulbs there has been no yellowing. Simply trying to find replacement bulbs as the right one after warm up goes a bit warmer and Alex isn't responding to much other than they are out of stock.

I would be open to ditching them and just going with some LUX H8s but that would be far more expensive than just changing bulbs. Plus I'm not familiar with the setup of these and would have to figure out how to undo all the wiring, grounding, and ballasts that are installed for these HIDs.

Any HID bulb would work. Although if you insist on keeping HID's you should go with a quality one with UV protection.

I'm sure you can find HID bulbs cheaper elsewhere but these are the ones I know that block the UV.

UV emitting out of HID bulbs will cause your angel eye rings to yellow over time.

Will these bulbs with the UV protection, still yellow my angel eyes? Lots of Alpine people have used their sets for years without yellowing. So I don't want to make a mistake here.

Bulbs with UV protection should not yellow them. I've heard otherwise in regards to people who used alpine but like most light companies they tend to change manufacturers as the years go by so who knows.
