Paddle Shifter Retrofit?

I'm looking at a 2007 335i without paddle shifters. Is there anyway these can be installed? If so, approximate cost?

Another question... For those running at the track with a JB4 and other mods... Do you shift manually, or let the transmission shift automatically?

there are some DIY to do paddle shifter in the DIY section of this forum. It's not hard, but you'll need at least the sport steering wheel (regular steering wheel has different airbag - the majority of the cost). the dealer should be able to do it, i don't know how much, but it's basically just hardwiring into the shifter.

You need the retrofit harness from bms, also a sport steering wheel, airbag and mf buttons.

The install wasn't too bad, however wiring the harness was a pita. You can pm me if u need more info, I did it on my old 335. I also have the bms manual as well if u wanna take a look at it.

I did that as well and my 335 was a non sport so i had to buy the wheel as well. Pm me if you have further questions.

For tracking the paddles are the way to go over letting the AT do the shifting for you.

I installed the paddles and the performance steering wheel at the same time, so yeah it was a pain but if it was just the shifters, not that bad. Its not incredibly difficult in hindsight, now that I understand what goes where. But at first look at the BMw performance wheel plus the paddleshifter retrofit harness, it was a little daunting. Just follow instructions. You'll need the airbag, steering wheel, multifunction buttons and retrofit harness. The perf steering wheel adds a whole new can of worms.
