Luckiest man alive - 335i Injector Failure

This Saturday I woke up with the plan to replace my Low Fuel Pressure Sensor because I have been having these misfires under load and I got the code that the sensor was faulty.

I woke up, removed everything and installed it all back with success (this job was one of the easiest I have done on this car). I got in the car and cleared all of my codes off of the JB4 and began to drive to warm her up.
After the car was warm I decided that it's all or nothing and I gave it a tad over half throttle and sure enough MY MISFIRES WERE BACK!!!!!

At this point I have done most of my service work on the car (plugs, coils, oil, LFPS) and I am fed up and discouraged because with this car it can only mean one thing... INJECTORS ......

I was gearing my wallet up for purchasing a set when I decided to go ahead and see what index injectors my car has on it now as I am not the original owner of the car.
I read the numbers of each injector out and they all matched and were the following numbers 1353-7565-138-06.

My head sees these numbers and I begin to remember reading a service bulletin for a recall on the injectors on engines with a build date from 04/02/2007- 10/31/2008. I had remembered my set of numbers because apparently they are one of the sets that are covered under the service bulletin. So with my hopeful thought I should get all 6 Injectors replaced by BMW for free!!!

Apparently I have the longest lasting set of injectors!
My car's build date is 06/2006 so I didn't even think of checking the numbers but apparently I fall right in time!
Other Information on my car.
2007 335i 6MT w/ 138,000 miles and 1 HPFP replacement.

Now comes for the questions I have for those that did this recall already.

- Should I remove my JB4 entirely before going in on Monday or just turn it off?
- Is there any way for them to come back and make me pay for anything or can I argue it to be completely free if they try and charge me?
- How long did it take for you to get your car back?

Your car isn't within the recall guidelines with your build date...

It's not with the CARS build date, it's with the MOTOR.

A cars chassis may be produced quite a bit before the engine.
The injectors are the injectors that are covered under the recall so that's really the only thing that matters.
I called up the BMW by my house already and explained to them the situation.
My appointment is Monday at 4PM.

Your car is too old >8 years 120k miles. I'd be very surprised if they covered it

Also where do you find your engine build date as opposed to the car built date? I never knew there was a difference

The service bulletin says "The repair described in this bulletin is covered under warranty regardless of time or mileage. Reimbursement for this recall will be via normal claim entry utilizing the following information"
http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1301421967
Then it continues to list a bunch of steps for their entry system.

Interesting, let us know how it goes because I know most dealers would give you the round around for doing "voluntary" recalls this late unless you know the SA well.

Where did you find your engine built date as I have always assumed it was the same as production date? If they are different my injectors may be covered as well

Yeah I'd always heard the build date was the build date. Keep us updated because I have an 06 build date but 138 injectors...

There is a VIN on the back of the head so looking up that VIN up you could find out the production date of the engine.
I haven't gone that far yet but I have my appointment so if all goes well I'll report back my findings and maybe you all could get new injectors .

You're out of warranty. The jb4 won't stop a recall part from going in. Don't worry about it.

They change the part because it's in recall not fail. The recall is an automatic admission it's their problem.

I figured that much, I just never have had much experience with anyone doing anything under warranty. I took it in for HPFP once but everything else I've done.

I mean it doesn't hurt to look.
I thought I was one of the few people who didn't check that.
LOL

When my injectors failed I emailed my SA to see if the injectors had been replaced under the recall by the previous owner. He got back to me the same day letting me know when they were done. So that's an easy way to check if it's been done.

I would remove jb4 just to stay on the safe side. It only takes 20 min. Play it safe.

I had my injectors replaced 3 days after I bought the car cuz they crapped out. 1 year later I had my car in for regular service and the tech changed all six again due to those being recalled. You need either index 11 or 12 if I'm not mistaken. Injectors are EXPENSIVE MAN. You are one lucky guy! Good luck
