Does anyone know how much force is required on the brake pedal to stop an e91 in an emergency situation (full braking)? I drive a 2011 e91 mt and I broke my right tib and fib just below the knee back in September. After a somewhat complicated recovery I just got clearance from the doc to start weight bearing. 50% max for the next week then up to 100% w pain as my guide. Today I backed the car out of the garage w no problem. i could def. drive but don't quite feel comfortable enough w my leg for an emergency stop. So I am curious if anyone knows the #s req'd ? Dying to drive my car after 3 months out of commission!

If you get into another accident, the impacts could break your leg again. Emergency pressure is pretty firm (I just crashed), but my tires gave out before my pads/rotors did.

Don't have a direct answer but you could aways drive with two feet until your leg recovers. I know it's a bad habit but it's an option.

OP has one of the rare MT wagons, so left foot braking isn't really an option.

^ Hard to do considering it's a manual that OP drives.

I broke my left ankle on both sides. I learned how to shift with knee (full cast) during that 3 month period. I had to get a new clutch pedal rubber cover because the cast wore it away pretty quickly.

Just drive slow and keep your distance.

Actually it is.
Throw into neutral and use both feet or left foot.

Had bad tendonitis and it does work.
I had an e36 M3 and did the above.

I'd say wait till you fully recover.

All you need to do is smash your foot down hard on the brake. If you can do it, you're good to go. If pain limits you, no driving for now.

Flex wins. That is simple solution- no numbers needed. Why didn't I think of that?? Going to see how hard I can push the petal while idling and make a call to go once it feels comfortable rather than attempting to brake with left foot while driving an mt...

If you are going through Physical Therapy, try to simulate hard pressing of brakes. Its always best to check with your Physio therapist.
