ALOT of timing pulled..why?

Whats up. here is a log of my friends FBO 135i with the MHD e40 v4.0 map.. We switched to the new map and his car felt a lot less powerful on the 5.1 map. Getting a log on 5.1 later but for now here is a log.. this is running 5gal of e85 and 5.5 of 93.. should be a pretty close mixture. What can cause timing pull?

What do I have to do to the car differently to avoid this?

Custom tune doesn't mean it's a good tune. FYI. That is very lean AFR for e40.

I am slowly learning how all of this tuning works out. Just downloaded one of SPXXX's base IJEOS e30 and e40 maps.. going to try those.

It did dips a bit. You can't go any higher than e40 with the stock lpfp. You can ash him to lean it a bit to save your lpfp.

I know what you meant by 13.3 in the higher RPM, but the new comers and those from older their previous platform (with PI systems) will misunderstand this.

Btw about the some guy you mentioned is this the log your talking about ?

http://www.datazap.me/u/skiz135i/log...28&mark=73-101

That guy is 6MT running E40 perhaps more ethanol (see last paragraph), He hits 20 PSI @ 4000-4300 RPM with an AFR ration of 13.3 during "post shift" which is night and day difference from running 13+ AFR straight through the RPM band

If you didnt notice the DME leaned him out during the post shift. Look at the WOT onset for suggested AFR target then look at the AFR during post shift at the same RPM range, different load and look at the trims how the DME pulls fuel at those events.

The DME can supercede commanded AFR based on the fuel when needs be expecially if the ehtanol content is more than what than what the map is . being targeted for.

The SPXXX tune is doing much better with timing, granted. Looks like your clutch is slipping on the WOT onset though. You might want to take care on that.

Now the difference I see between the two logs is on Ken's log the OP is short shifting at 5700-5800 RPM causing the RPMs to fall lower in the 4000-4500 RPM range where as on the SPXX log the OP is shifting after 6K RPMs allowing RPMs to drop within the 4500-5000 RPM where AFR targets are tappering richer

Your HPFP and LPFP are performing too low, and on the Ken tune it was peformance 100 % better

The timing can definitely be cleaned with Ken's map without having to sacrifice the power and maintiain excelent HPFP and LPFP performance.

The clutch is a new spec stage 2 clutch it grabs great and isn't slipping at all. It loses traction in all of 2nd gear so idk if thats what you might be interpreting as a slip.. I am looking to get a custom tune though, can you make one for me?

You should do the logs in 3rd gear to avoid wheel spin. Logs in 2nd gear aren't completely accurate due to wheel spin and a 3rd gear log gets more load on the engine, which you want.

Find a safe location to do the pulls and keep the road consistent and the RPM start and end up point consistent.

Be safe.

13.3:1 AFR?!? On a boosted motor? That can't be right. I am used to mod to low 11s on port injection cars. With direct injection 12:1 seems ok but I would say defo no leaner than that! Playing with fire

it's post shift and off load, who cares

we're not talking about 6500rpm at full throttle here

My bad on that, makes sense now, that was one hell of a slippy sliding you were doing there then...lol. Ken and I enforce a strict policy for logging and 3rd gear in the standard for onset WOT never 1st or 2nd so when I viewed the logs I viewed it in the perspective of 3-5 gears

I will request ken for your AFR tables and I will remap it for you and send it back to him. However we need to see logs done in the preferred gears though

Thanks

Okay I am going to get some new logs now, I just got an e mail with all required info. Will send logs asap. Can the logs be based off of SPXs e40 tune or do you need me to flash your v5.1?
