APEX EC-7 and brembo 380mm kit

Hey guys this post is in no way to bash APEX, I just wanted to share my personal experience with APEX EC-7 wheels and the 380mm brembo kit. On the streets I run a set of 19 inch M359 reps, they clear the brembos no problem but are definitely not a track wheel (Avant Garde). About a month ago I decided to purchase a set of 18in track wheels. After a bunch of research I went with the APEX EC-7, the specs are 18x9 et 42 and 18x10 et 43. The reason i went with such conservative offsets was because I wanted as much tire as I could fit under the stock fenders. The tires I used were Hankook RS-3 255/35/18 and 285/35/18. Really MEATY I had to run a 5mm spacer in the front so that the tire would clear the Ohlins struts by 2mm. The rear tires rubbed on the inside fender wall but the rim didnt, no serious damage here. I tracked the car at buttonwillow and when I got home to change my wheels to the street tires I saw the damage and my jaw dropped

Here is a picture album:

I spoke to a rep from APEX to try to get a refund and they explained that the EC-7 wheel does clear the brembo 380mm kit as their website states but I would have to either buy the 18x9 et 31 or run a 12mm spacer with the 18x9 et 42. Now the only question I had for him is does the extra 7mm of spacer actually increase the Barrel Diameter in any way? According to the rep it does. My take is the wheels are not as strong as APEX claims they are, because the brakes only rubbed under heavy load induced from tracking the vehicle. Anyhow thanks for listening to my rant. I am now looking for a set of 18 inch forged wheels not that cast forged garbage.

kind of hard to tell by the pics, the wheel has 3 linear areas of scratch and the caliper shows one area of scratch. Did it scratch both front wheels the same way? Do you run spacers up front?

I run a 5mm spacer in the front to clear the ohlins by 2mm. Yeah both of the front brakes got scratched. I don't know exactly when it happened on the track.
