How many track days do you have..and where?

I am not talking about at the drag strip..I am talking about road race courses and high performance driving events..or bonafide races?

Here is mine...I think I am missing a few here or there...but this is about right...

Thunderhill: 59 days (Audi club X 9 events/BMW club X 3 event/HOD X 8 days/SCCA Street School X 3 days/8 SCCA races in Spec Miata/SCCA licensing school X 2days/Miata Club X 2 events/Subaru Club X 1 event/Donutz Racing X 5 days/NASA X 2 events

Sears Point/Infineon: 21 days (Audi Club X 6 events/BMW Club X 4 events/NASA X 1 event/HOD X 1 event)

Laguna: 35 days (Audi club X 6 events/BMW Club X 1 event/Tracquest X 6 days/HOD X 2 events/NorCal Racing Club X 4 days/7 SCCA races in Spec Miata)

Miller Motorsports: 6 days (ACNA - 3 events)

Buttonwillow: 10 days (NASA X 2 events/BMW Club X 2 events/Tracquest X 2 days)

Willow Springs: 4 days (Tracquest X 2 events)

Spring Mountain: 5 days (ACNA X 2 events, plus 1 day)

Reno/Fernley: 2 days (ACNA X 1 event)

So, I think I am at about 145 days. I think.

honestly, I have no idea. I never really kept count, though my first track day was in 1997 . If I had to guess, somewhere between 70 and 90. Most of that has been Buttonwillow and Streets of Willow, but I also have a few days a Willow Springs (big track), Laguna Seca, and Spring Mountain Motorsports Park in Nevada.

the idea of this thread disturbs me. I don't like it because it can be used to gauge an e90post'ers credibility/knowledge on the subject of driving. This goes in the face of what the internet is all about. I don't know which rule in the internet handbook but it reads like, "Once an individual creates a screen name on ANY forum, that individual is just as much an expert on ANY subject as ANY other poster." Knowing how many actual track days someone has undermines that internet handbook rule. I think a moderator should seriously consider deleting this thread for its violation of internet protocols. And, the OP should receive a 3 day ban. Ignorance is no excuse.

Funny stuff satakal!!

My pathetic experience is:
One Track Day plus one Car Control Clinic at Pacific Raceways in Kent WA.

That is all I was able to swing this year. Hoping for less business travel next year to help me get that total at least tripled....

not today. Long lunch scheduled for Wednesday. But that's cause I'm going to the local indoor karting place for some fun.

back on-topic: As someone very new to this sport I'd like to throw a shout-out to auto crossing. I've noticed that those with the most seat time aren't excited about auto crosses. But moving up in skill level from Gran-Turismo-noob to whatever I am now, lower speed car control + the creativity that auto cross demands is part of being a complete driver. imo. Also, an auto cross is the only place I find it acceptable for me to drive ten tenths or more. And, it's a good place to make errors that you get severely scolded for at CCA days.

Oh, and one more thing... In April I told my self, only CCA (or similar) events from here on out. Learning happens at "schools". While dumb/fun stuff happens at a "track day". Rarely does learning happen for me in the absence of a CCA or similar school.

I've only done one track event with my E90, but I've been doing BMW CCA schools for about 10 years with my previous cars. Unfortunately, I generally only make time for about 1 event a year.

Gingerman - 6 days
NHIS - 2 days
Beaver Run - 2 days
VIR - 8 days

Satakal...I did autocross back in 1984 and 1985 in my GTI...then again in 97-2001. I held third place in CSP in the very competitive SF Region in my Audi S4 for the season...

I highly recommend it for newbies..but I personally dont get a thrill with it anymore. I have gone to about 50 autocross events over the years.

+1 on the newbies recommendation. I also have the similar feeling as you that autox seems not to be as thrilling anymore, but I'm considering doing more autox next year because it is considerably cheaper.

As for how many track days I have....I don't remember. I lost count on the days at Willow Springs, Streets of Willow, Buttonwillow, and Calif Speedway (infield) since those are the most popular tracks we go to.

- Willow Springs, maybe 8
- Streets of Willow, probably 20+
- Buttonwillow , at least 10
- Calif Speedway (infield), maybe 10
- Calif Speedway (roval), 2
- Laguna Seca, 3
- Spring Mountain, 4

13 days Buttonwillow (90% BMW CCA)

2 days Cal Speedway (BMW CCA)

I have a hard time counting 13 days, Steve how do you keep track of all those days over the years?

I had been to maybe 7 or 8 auto crosses back when I was getting into the whole driving thing. I stopped pretty much because the events in L.A. were really crowded, and the last time I ever went, I got there at 7am to sign up, waited (and worked the course) all day, and finally got 2 runs in just before 4pm, for a total of less than 3 minutes of seat time

I'm not sure how many I've done. But I have NHIS, LimeRock, Sears, Willow, Streets, ButtonWillow, Tijuana Road Course!!!!!! Coronado NAS. Been to THill as a coach (but didn't drive )

I've done more AutoX than I can count. Depending on the course I still have fun, but most courses are to boring and not challenging enough. Just wait for the upcoming BMW event. I'm working on a MAD creation!!!!!! This will be one that seperates the men from the boys.

This Icon has nothing to do with anything, I just had to use it.

It must suck to not be a member of the San Diego chapter of the BMW CCA. You probably didn't even get a lunch for that.

At first I hated the value of an autocross. (time at the event relative to time in the drivers seat) San Diego and LA autocrosses are turning into drift events. Black flag station stuff for sure in any CCA run group on the big track.

Cal Speed Way 4 days

Satakal, that was really funny !!! and I am jealous we starting doing this at the same time and you are at 27 and I'm only at 8 days !!! Guess any dumb a$$ can get fast with seat time !! J/k you know I love you :-)

I started this collection of the lanyards and name tag that they give you at each school... It would be awesome when I have a couple dozens of those to wear them all at the same time like medals !!!

Nice to see so many junkies. Too bad half the season is covered in snow and ice over here. Hey Kenneth interested in doing an ice rally this year? Anyone try the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5 ?

Last three seasons :
Le Circuit Mont Tremblant = 9 days
Calabogie Motorsport Park = 3 days (2 more to go: Oct 24/25)
Circuit ICAR = 11 days (3 more to go by Oct 27)
Sanair Racing = 2 days
Autodrome St Eustache = 2 days

Curious to see how fresh SS Z1 rubber holds this late in the year with cold track surfaces.

Probably 30 - 40 days per year. All CA tracks except for TH and have done Las Vegas a few years ago. I've run with the following groups just in the past year:

BMWCCA
Driving Concepts (Comp School)
Speedventures
Trackmasters
CFRA
NCRC
POC/PCA

My track car is the E46 M3 - But I have done 6 or so track days in the E90. It's done Cal Speedway when the wife broke the clutch early on Sat at the last BMWCCA LA event, Laguna Seca when my fuel pump went out right when I pulled into the track, and Buttonwillow twice (pictured below).

Joel, what's with the ice rally, LOL? Certainly not with the 335, perhaps with my underpowered beater Don't want sheet metal damage. You have the XI, so you should be good to go.

Tell me more........or let's go for drinks an you can fill me in.

For your remaining track days, use your winters, should be fun (but slow of course).
