Strange rubbing noise with E46 style 135 ZHP wheels

Hello,

I installed a set of wheels that was sitting in my attic for a few years. They are OEM e46 ZHP 135 style wheels. They are non staggered.

Size 18 x 8.0
Offset ET 47
Tires: 225/40/18 All around

I installed 15mm spacers on the front and 30mm on the rear (H&R TRAC+ spacers). Occasionally I get this strange rubbing almost grinding noise from what seems to be the front end.

It only occurs when I am braking slightly and only happens about once or twice on a 20-30 minute drive.

I have jacked the car up about 5 times and CANNOT see any signs of rubbing at all.

Any Ideas/input/help???

Make sure the hubs are clean and the wheels are torqued properly.

I cleaned the hubs and put on anti-seize like I always do when changing/rotating wheels. They are also torqued properly...

Sounds like the bolts you are using are a bit too long and are coming in contact with your hub. I would double check the length.

Thanks for the reply Charles, I will check on this tomorrow. If this is the case, could this have caused any real harm to my hubs?

Twin,

Any updates on these wheels on your car? I ask because I am looking to reuse my Style 135m's which are staggered, as winter wheels on my '11 E90 335. I'm trying to work out the details now so that I can budget in spacers, new lug studs etc. before next fall.

Thank you.
