more than likely they will not do it under warranty unless you have check engine lights that cannot be cleared or other issues

No they will not generally, there have been some instances where the dealer has trouble diagnosing an issue and will do the service but 90% of time you have to pay.

Ya, it's really not that bad, hardest part is finding the best way to clean the valves. I think most things on it are the same for all n54s but I heard some people say the radiator clip is a little different for 6mt.

The only way the dealer will do it under the original warranty is if it causes driveability issues or throws codes and they rule everything else out. Mine did not throw a code, most don't.

Got mine cleaned under warranty but was having issues with the car (stuttering, hesitation) and after replacing spark plugs wasn't any better. I def didn't walk in symptomless and ask them to do it though. Look around for group buys in your area since that will likely be much cheaper.

Also had mine done under warrant at 39k. BMW opened a PUMA case after trying injectors, coil packs, and plugs without success in eliminating persistent misfires.

I had mine also done under warranty and maintenance plan but I also had miss firing under load. Replace plugs, injectors, and both fuel pumps then dealer agreed to clean valves after BMW approval. Mine was done at 60k miles.

I dont have any symptoms however, heard they get pretty nasty after roughly 40k miles and can rob your car of power and hinder tunes...

I've done it twice now (once on my sedan and then once on the coupe I have now). It's easy to do, but time consuming because you have to take off the intake manifold. That's where the cost is, the labor. If your willing to try it yourself the DIY is very helpful
