I don't see why everyone wants to remove it. The kickdown feature allow the car to drop down to the appropriate gear for maximum acceleration cause thats what you want when you slam your foot down. Why disable it just learn how to control your foot.

Just don't push down as hard? Pretty simple. Maybe OP have bought a 328i? I don't see the point in getting a car with power and just wanting to put put around in it.

When you drive a 6MT you do not always want to downshift to the lower possible gear when pressing the gas pedal all the way. Specially with cars such as a 335i that have loads of torque al low revs. That is why some people (including myself) prefer to disable the kick-down button while driving the steptronic in manual mode.

On the track you don't want the car shifting mid-turn as that unsettles the handling balance.

You should never be dropping hammer mid-turn anyway.

And if you are exiting at such low revs that you need to DS to get into the power band, then you are doing it wrong.

Either way, proper throttle control will address the issue of the kickdown button.

There is no kickdown button/switch. There is a detent built into the pedal to be a placebo, but there is no actual switch/button/wiring/sensor/signal related to it.

+10.....If i wanted it to go into a lower gear I have paddles on the steering wheel for that. I would like to floor my car with out it kicking down to a useless gear that will last about two sec.

So your saying it kickes down when the pedal gets to a certain point?? If thats the case i guess it would do nothing to remove the button.... ill just do what people have said and put a block behind the pedal to limit its travel.

What about when the car shifts early if it detects the revs climbing too fast? First gear, roll into full throttle...it wants to upshift at 6k without my consent, haha.

Then can you explain why an auto has this button and the manuals don't?
If there isn't an actual button then why even have it?

Then You should have gotten a manual then. Why mash the pedal if you don't want maximum acceleration, or like I said learn how to control your foot. If you push the pedal down right before the kickdown button you will be at 100% I have no problem with this.

Then be in the right gear for the turn the car will only kickdown if there is room in the rpms to drop down to safely.
