No, this statement is incorrect.

Gearing only translates (re-outputs) torque and therefore will not generate any additional HP.

Ratios are as follows
Year Model Ratio(step)
2007 e92 328i 3.23 (3.73)
2007 e92 328xi 3.38 (3.91)
2006 e90 325i 3.23 (3.73)
2006 e90 325xi 3.23 (3.73)
2006 e90 330i 3.15 (3.64)
2006 e90 330xi 3.15 (3.64)

As you can see the 330's have lower output gearing which equals better top end and no improved low end TQ performance.

Higher gears = shorter shifts and more torque at the cost of RPM:MPH

I suspect there is more going on in the 330 software than we know to create the greater HP gains in stock 330's and 3.0si's.

we know the valvetronic tuning is different on the 330 (it runs more valve lift than the 325/328). That's why you need the gintani tune to complete the conversion.

True. Also, the 330 runs richer with more spark advance.

e90pilot - Did you notice a big difference in HP with the 3 stage manifold and Gintini Tune? Craven is working doing this set up for me.

So a 3 stages intake manifold taken from a totalled 330 would fit without the need for any mods right?

As long as you have all the parts yes. You should buy a new set of gaskets though. Click on the link in my sig for parts list.

And as long as it is in condition for sure

Thanks for the answer. Cant wait to get the DIY cause I cant think of any specialized tuning shops that can handle BMW tuning around here.

I have been thinking about this alot and I think getting a new Manifold from the dealer is the way to go. It will cost you $1000 for everything on the price list that e90pilot has. The manifold is $400 something. Even if i was able to get one used or from the junk yard I might pay $100 or $200 for manifold, but the rest of the parts I'm going to want new(gaskets and Etc). I think if your going to do it, do it right and get the parts new.

Or try and find a friend that works at the dealer and see if he can buy the parts for you. This is what I going to work on.

I took my car in for service last night and one of the guys lives down the street from me. Totally cool guy, loves what i did to the car. So i might see if he can hook me up with the parts.

Just install it for now. You will get 10 whp. Then when you get the Tune you will even get more.

Would you recommend doing this mod with the PBX on or you would suggest waiting for a full tune to get the whole potential?

Is so; then the PBX would become useless isnt it?

What's going on with this Gintani tune? I would feel like a kid who found out Santa isn't real when this tune never releases.

Since it seems that powerchip and gintani might not be working out, does turner motor sports or auto werks seem like a better ECM software solution?
