Low oil level warning? - LCI 320d

Hi, newb question if anyone could be good enough to help.. My 60 reg 320d has a manual dipstick & no electronic level gauge, miss this because I had it on other cars.

Anway the manual seems to imply that there should be a low oil level warning for both Petrol & Diesel models when its below minimum, whether or not it has the digital gauge, just wondered if anyone can confirm because its not the clearest. Cheers & Ho Ho Ho Merry Xmas.....

Fairly sure there is a low level warning I think it comes on at start up as a yellow oil can symbol then goes out.

I miss the dipstick just goes to show you can't please everyone, my other 6 cylinder engine has both wartsila 6L26, mind you she is producing 2500 BHp

That Wartsila's too high-tech for my taste. What's wrong with a good old Doxford???

For those not in the seafaring tradition - it's a six (other configs available) cylinder opposed piston 2 stroke turbo diesel. Maximum revs 124.3 rpm! ( no, the decimal point is in the right place).

My LCI 330d has the low oil warning. It is an amber Oil can.

BMW have had a low level as well as pressure sensor for years.

My E46 320d had it, and it did go off once just as the oil hit the minimum on the dipstick. Dash warning light lights orange instead of the red for low pressure.

The 135i I find does it's nut if you park on a steep enough hill facing downwards as it thinks it has low oil level. Drive onto flat ground and a few minutes later it's back showing max again.
