I thought GIAC offered a flash loader? Couldn't you order that and swap a "stock" map to the DME And then overwrite the stock map with the cobb? Or would that not even be readable by the AP? I thought the dinan tune was encrypted also and thats why the cobb just overwrites it with a "stock" map.

You can tinker with the jb4 on top, great gauges and easy to setup. Only boost is added, timing, fueling etc is still managed by the flash. I am running stage 1 with 5 psi on top .

It does not. Just as with the Dinan flash, COBB uses a generic map to replace the tuning flash (which is then irretrievably lost).
The GIAC flash loader actually does not load any maps, as they're already stored in the DME. It just activates them. Alpina_B3_Lux

Started my car this morning, it was 20 fahrenheit. Drove the car for less an mile, and it went in limp mode. Didn't rev more then 2500 rpm.. any ideas Cobb?

Question for anyone who can answer:
I just had 3" Catless Downpipe's installed and the "Service Engine Soon" / SES Light Came on as expected. From my research, the only way to get the light turned off is to upgrade to a Stage 2 map since it's already calibrated in the stage 2 map. Can I upgrade to stage 2 with just Catless DP's and BMS DCI? Or do I need an upgraded FMIC too? It is winter time here in Maryland so it's pretty cold outside. I am currently running the Cobb Stage 1 aggressive (93 oct) map. The other option I saw was getting the downpipe fix from BMS. Any help appreciated.

you can run the regular stage 2 map and it will supress the SES. you only need the FMIC to run the Stage 2+ map.

Thanks for the quick response, when you say "supress the SES", you mean it will turn the light off correct? I will eventually get an aftermarket FMIC when funds allow it, but my only focus right now is getting the light turned off.

Yup, light will go off unless you go back to a Stage 1 map. It usually takes around 50 miles to come back on once the tune is removed or Stage 1 map is flashed.

sems faster but it depends the boost you put on top but the engine is happier with higher ignition advance, very responsive. The ST mapping is very nice indeed especially for an AT.

Stage 2 maps are still in the Beta program and not bundled with firmware updates. Just download your map of choice from AccessECU and keep them stored on your PC for future updates.
