Are the benefits difference for each state - ie some states pay you for going back to the grid while others only assist in household consumption?

Yes the benefits are different in each state but in QLD you are on a net tariff. Therefore any unused power get fed back into the gird and most power company will pay approx. $0.40 per kw.
