Has any owner of a 2012+ 135 DCT tried the TMC AutoFlash from TMC Autosport.

http://www.tmcmotorsport.com/TMCAutoFlash_BMW.aspx

According to the website it has the ability to alter the DME and TCU torque limiters even on the tricore/infineon equipped cars. I did reach out to them and based on the initial conversation it is supported on these dme/tcu.

Not cheap bit if it works it may be an option to alter the torque limits of the DCT to reduce slipping

I don tthink I will be adding anymore torque than this.....lol...driving around with this type of torque is not only fun but scary. I'll eb working on bringing the whp up though

i think this might be of interest:

N55, DCT, Cobb/ATR, SSP clutches

i lowered the last line ("load 220") of the "Load to Torque Limit" under "Limits Tables" by around 15% and the both clutches started slipping (not when shifting but under WOT between 3800 and 4500rpm) in 4th gear and higher.

reset the table and slipping gone.

so clutch pressure is indeed altered by the DME sending calculated torque to the gearbox.

To add all the N54 DCT cars internationally that we have tuned have had 0 slippage and they are ranging from 490 to 560 wtq on stock turbos.

Havent had a chance yet to get hold of a N54 DCT with turbo upgrades for E60 yet where the turque monster manifests itself

AT cars have the same issue. My current tune is making 550+ rwtq. I made a few changes to help onset and post shift timing which ended up lowering my torque output into the 600's. My transmission didn't like it one bit. So I increased my output torque and all is good.

I'm not saying people can't get by with using a piggy. On MT cars it doesn't matter, but AT and DCT cars you need to know where you are with load to torque and ensure you are calculating a high enough value to keep your transmission happy without hitting a torque limiter.

How have the SSP clutches been working for you?

with the SSP clutches, shifting and driveability improved very much, the tranny never felt so smooth ever before, even in "normal" road or city driving.

as for their grip, i think that for my setup/power they may be overkill, and my slipping problem was more related to the tune (i can make these slip too by adjusting certain parameters in the tune, see above), but overall i am still happy with the result and to be on the safe side should i change my setup for more power.

also, their customer service was very good with kris writing me several messages to ask how we were doing with the install (which is straightforward and easy - if you finally have the gearbox out...).

cheers

DCT with stock clutches can hold up to 550ish wtq before slipping. With Dodson clutches it can hold to 700-800ish.

I ran mine 34 passes on the track, over 200 drag launches within a year. Total launches when owning the vehicle was over 400

This is from the flash only tuning side, not with a piggy. Tolerance and more torque is much more capable with flash only tuning.

So for those of us shooting for 600wtq 600whp... Should we avoid the dct and get a steptronic?

DCT holds better. Have been in the position to beat the hell out of both over years. The issue with the AT is that if you heat it once to much, it's over.

My wear went drastic when I did some intensive track days with my AT. I often replace fluids with high quality stuff. No beating before propper warm up etc etc..

DCT is sport mode seems to be holding the best.

Understood. Dollar for Dollar, those of us looking to get back into an e92, go for the DCT. Noted sir. Thank you
