Advice Needed....

Hey guys, thanks for the great site!

I took my car today to my indy here in London (great guy, works only on high end cars etc..) to do a service on my 2008 E93, replacing the Air and Oil Filter, Oil and spark plugs.

He went trough the car and noticed that one of the spark plugs, the one connected to cylinder 1 was completely carbonized/deformed. He mentioned that this particular bmw model (e90 series) had a history of a Fuel pump failure that could be perhaps what was causing this and he advised to call the dealer and check if there are any recalls open to this car, however I am not sure how to proceed with this.

Anybody familiar with this situation that could guide on what I have to do? The car is running fine for me, but I got a little concerned to know one spark plug was this bad.

Thanks again for the support!

If you know where the car was last serviced by a BMW dealer, give them a call and they can check if there any recalls outstanding?

What engine?

335i had a problem with HPFP but I doubt this would cause carbonisation of the spark plugs in only 1 cylinder. More likely due to a bad injectors which are also a common problem on the 335i

Change the plugs and keep an eye on it...

Hi,

Just got the car back. Yea my mistake, I had misunderstood him and it is the injector on cylinder 1 (seems to be cylinder 3 as well), the car sometimes takes some time to start.

Is there a way to check for a recall on these bad injectors or should I just call a dealer and ask?

The recall only affected some year ranges and certain injector part numbers. I had 3 replaced under the recall.

Call a dealer and ask for the recall, it should be free.

They should know from your VIN whether the vehicle is affected.
