Price for an 08 335i w/Sport Package
Hey Guys,
I'm looking into purchasing an 07 or 08 335i with at least the sport package, and preferable the premium package as well. What price range do you think is reasonable? Under 35k? Lastly, are there any major changes between an 07 and 08? Thanks, Mike |

good question
I recently purchased a 2007 335i coupe, space gray, premium/sport/cold weather package, fully loaded with around 35k miles, no accident history, no repaints, the car is insanely clean.
i got it for 26,500 + warranty/registration = just under 30k but here's the thing, i have a family connection to a private dealership owner who gets the cars at auction. what he was finding on his searches were coming up ATLEAST 5k+ cheaper than any autotrader.com or dealership price. i got this car for an absolute steal, since he didn't mark the car up at all. If you're looking at a 2007-2008 in decent condition, look to spend 30-35k minimum on just the sticker price. also i would highly reccomend the extended warrant either through BMW or third party services. i've seen some 07's for about 28k on autotrader, but these cars are either/or high mileage or salvaged... which i definately wouldn't mess around with. |

Low 30s sounds like a good deal.

i think u can get an 08 with plenty of options for mid to upper 30s.
I had mine on autotrader for $34K and got quite a few calls. No calls when I listed it at $37K. That means that are a lot of choice at 37+ and fewer at less than 37K.

I paid 37K for my 08 with the options in my sig. It only had 15K miles and is a CPO with the extra 2 year maintenance extension as well. I definitely didn't get a amazing deal or anything but I felt it was fair.

I've been watching Autotrader.com for some friends who want to buy an '08 335i E90. Here's what I've determined to be the target prices for them after beating up the stealer:
'07 E90 w/ 30,000 mi = $28K '08 E90 w/ 15,000 mi = $33K '09 E90 w/ 6,000 mi = $39K When I bought my CPO 335i sedan a year ago, the dealership was asking $37,988. I offered them $31,500 and they came back with $31,900, so $6,000 off! This is the time to grab an '08 for a great price! Good luck.

sold my car on autotrader (2008 225xi coupe) with sport package, nav, auto, premium package, cold weather package, and iPod adapter for $37,300...I listed it at $38,999 but then reduced it to $37,999.

Thanks for the price breakdown, I would definitely love to get into a CPO'ed 08... Maybe I'll search around here and then try to swing a deal similar to yours. Was there a lot of haggling involved or did you just walk in and offer them 31.5k?
I'm trading/selling an 02 WRX, I assume it is better to try and get a private party sale on that but then again for ease of sale I could just trade it in... What do you guys think for that end of the deal? Thanks, Mike Quote:

Meant to put this in too, my goal would be to find a car with these specs (in order of necessity)
2008 335i Sedan w/6sp 1) Sport Package 2) Premium Package 3) Black Interior 4) Navigation 5) Cold Weather Package The lack of the sport package would be a real deal breaker for me, not too picky about the exterior color although black is only the real interior color that I like. Finally, do you guys think having the car CPO'ed provides enough of a benefit to warrant limiting my search just to those vehicles? I'd assume not. Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it! Can't wait to finally get a 335! |

Rex32,
Regarding my 335i...I had to get midevil on the dealer to get that deal. Basically I had to CONVINCE THEM to sell me the car. Sometimes I actually DARE the dealership to sell me a car! In this case I negociated via email listing about 8 other cars within a similar distance equipped more or less the same, even included the name of the dealer, CPO or non-CPO, mileage and price - you can lie if you want because they just want to sell you a car, they don't have time to follow-up! Anyways, I explained these are examples of cars at dealerships that are "dying to sell to me" and I just preferred the color combo of the one we were talking about...I asked them, "Is there something special about your 335i that I don't realize?" Then I offered them $31.5K which was very much in line with all the other cars explaining LISTEN, I'M DOING ALL THE WORK HERE! You just gotta get into their heads, play with 'em, because you have nothing to lose by negociating hard. So, yeah then they said $31.9K plus this and that - which still seemed like a fortune. Given my deal was struck nearly 1 year ago to the day on an '07, you should expect a similar deal now. $32K on an '08 CPO and an extra $1,000 if it has Navi. Let us know how you do! ------------------ Edit: As for whether to trade in your WRX or not, that really depends on how good you are at selling stuff? Some people HATE the whole advertising, giving test drives, etc involved with selling a car themselves. I use a combination of KBB and NADA for Trade-In value using clean or excellent rating to justify the amount I want the dealer to give me. But remember to keep it apples to apples you can't ask a premium for your trade then buy their car at wholesale. The line I like to use is, "Isn't making me happy more important than making a few extra dollars? I'm telling you, if we can do this deal here, I'll be XYZ BMW's biggest fan!" They don't even know what to say to that. Tell them what you think is a fair deal and explain why!

I have a fairly decent connection to a company that specializes in higher end used cars and they sell primarily on Ebay. I am meeting with the guy who runs the place tomorrow.
Are 335i's selling for around $20k at auctions? Thanks, Mike |
