maybe.
Pulley change is not something I am going to cover or go in to, changing a pulley generally raises boost 1-3psi and cant be unsafe. Do it at your own risk |

The under $7k price point is pretty exciting. I don't think I'll even bother to wait for my warranty to be up. Now we just gotta figure out piping for my X3!!

Hey this might be a dumb question...can the n52 stock internals and transmission handle that much power? I don't know much about the strength of the internals and transmission. Just curious...

For the power We are shooting for, everything should hold up just fine. The GM transmission is only rated at 332tq at the crank, so we are going under that for Tq. I have not been able to find any solid info on the ZF units though, but judging by the 335's ZF tranny Im sure the guys with a ZF n52 would have more room to play.

The 335i does use a ZF tranny, however it is different from the 325/330i ZF.

Right, i'm just interested in seeing where the middle ground is. I'm sure the ZF could handle this level of power with no issue.

6-speed automatic transmissions for cars
The 6-speed automatic transmission for RWD and 4WD vehicles is truly state-of-the-art, and can accommodate power ratings of up to 1000 Nm. Close ratio steps make the transmission more responsive to the torque characteristics of the engine. The electronic transmission control unit can be networked via a CAN bus to the engine control unit, and to dynamic, brake and stabilization systems employed for dynamic drive management tasks. Got this off of the ZF website. The ZF tranny is amazing. I was looking at the power rating for the transmission myself since I was looking into modifying the internals of the engine. I am wondering if other 6hp transmissions could be put in place of ours with little effort. Now if only I could find out the flow rate of our stock injectors. Then which ones to put in for higher flow. Last edited by berserkerx; 05-07-2011 at 06:42 AM.. |

Okay so after a little more digging I got a solid number. The 6hp26 and 28 can withstand between 326 to 444 ft/lb. The 6hp32 is the one that can withstand 1000 nm which is roughly 730 ft/lb.

So when this is ultimately 'in production' Gavin, would there be any installers in the NY / NJ area that could outfit our cars? Cali is a bit, umm, far from me ;-)

I'm not sure about the ratings but if you have a 325/330 you have a Getrag, you have a ZF if you have a 328. (I think)

325/330's had ZF's. 328's have GM built trannys.
