New gear knob installed!

Got rid of the standard SE silver plastic and leather knob, and replaced it with the 6 speed weighted knob. Amazed at how much heavier the new knob is and how much more positive it feels in the hand.

Very pleased with the upgrade. I go mine for a great price from:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1208809665...84.m1497.l2649

Although it was only 47 when bought mine.

Very happy!

Love the look of that.
Says its for the E60, but fits the E90 fine too?
Got any pics of it installed?

It's really an e46 knob, but is now used on a lot of the high performance sport models. I think even the new f30 with ZHP has this knob.

All BMW knobs are pretty interchangeable since the e36

It's raining constantly here, so no pics yet. Will take a snap tomorrow

Put hands round old one... Putting in second gear helps. Pull up firmly.

Old knob comes off

Just push new one on,

If it takes longer than 2 mins, the last thing you need is a new knob lol

It's not the size of the knob that matters its the smoothness of the shifts

Just to clarify, as i dont want to break/rip something. Do i just pull the gear knob up or do i need to loosen to the gaiter aswell?

just pulls up

i had a bit of trouble getting mine off at first. But thats cos i'm a wuss lol.

i ended up crouching over the knob, with my feet in the footwells and my knees on the front seats, allowing me to pull straight up.

it then came right off.

ach i'm no athlete and i pulled it out within 2 minutes of trying. So its not hard

it depends what knob you have as standard. If you have the normal brushed metal/black long SE one, then yes this feels better.

The first thing that will strike you when you get the new one, is how heavy it is. Its quite a solid beast. This makes changes smoother and more enjoyable. its also shorter, this makes shifts shorter and easier.

lastly, the fact that its nice and rounded, and doesnt have the horrid square edges of the standard knob, feels much nicer in the hand.

I would be weary of giving these guys any money at the moment!

Top right of their website indicates they are not trading!!!
