Removing a remap on an LCI model?

If I remapped my LCI 325d next year after the warranty expires, then say a couple of years later want to sell the car but in standard unmapped form do you think it would be possible to reinstall the original map? Wonder if a main dealer could tell as well...?

As it's an ECU off job to remap I assume it's the same to reinstate.

I also read that the new ECU's report back to BMW H/Q that they've been tampered with which presumable voids your engine and drivetrain warranty

TBH I would just sell the car as is, don't mention it.

Not fair on the new buyer mate, unless you disclose it.

DMS told me they can put the original map back on without any problem.

DMS also said that BMW can see the uprated map if the car goes in with it left on and they plug the car into their computer ... as it links with Germany.

I was thinking about this the other day....

On the other hand, for people that have a remapped LCI, that sounds like its much harder for the dealer to accidentally wipe your remap if your car went in for repair or routine software updates? I doubt they remove the ECU to do software updates and hence revert the remap back to normal.

True, next poor bloke that bought it would find out their insurance is invalidated if they have a crash and the ECU was investigated.
