Cheap fuel pump locking ring tool

Anyone used one of these cheap adjustable ones from OEMTools and the like?

Im a fan of having the right tool instead of enduring the misery of "you CAN do it like this instead" but $100 for a tool that Im likely going to use once (car is at 100k, I doubt Ill have it at 200k) is steep. I see these cheap ones that are just fingers on wing nuts that look like they should be able to do the job for $20. Then I know I can loan it out to friends too.

I tried using this tool first and failed. I bought one of the special tools. You are welcome to borrow mine if you pay for shipping.
