USB no longer working - Professional Stereo

The radio on my 328I-2009 is no longer showing the option IPod in the display screen menu. I have no sound from IPod, althoug using the BMW connector for USB and AUX. Somehow I think the Ipod think is lost in my radio.
I notice the phone still recharges while connected to the USB connector.
I hate not having ability to connect my Phone to the car, but I considering this is a "old" car I don't want to pay tons of money to a dealer to fix that, probably asking to replace the radio unit.
Any recommendations?
Anyone had the same issue?

Thanks

the usb functions provided by mulf2high module in trunk under cover behind backrest
you need to check if this module gets power or its dead
there plenty of topics how to do that on that forum
the phone charges because between that module and usb/aux socket there is usb hub with external power

Thanks for your help.
I checked and confirmed the red light comes up from both sides, the connector and the Mulf2 High Unit. The USB doesn't work, I noticed the Mulf2 has the Bluetooth symbol picture also there is this these wires packed. I just wondering if this thing is not pre-wired for bluetooth?
Anyway... seems the Mulf2 is not fried. Any other suggestion?
Thanks a lot for your help.

might be the sat module wires.
Everything necessary for blueooth phone should be connected.
There is no streaming bluetooth from a mulf 2 you have to have
a combox idrive combo to get that.

If teh Mulf2 High is not fried, do you have any opinion on why USB is not / IPod is not working?
Almost giving up to the dealer.

Thanks

Is the power to the box ?
Fan turning?
Fuse intact?
I might try dissconnecting the battery and seeing if
a hard reboot fixes it.
Otherwise a BMW specific scanner.
USB Hub fuse if you have a USB Hub.

I would also try playing a usb flash drive with music
fat 32 formatted.

usb fuse f13
tcu or ulf fuse f26(mulf doesn't come up as a search word)
from bently manual.

if you have some usb sticki with activity led
format it to fat32 ( this is custom option because latest macos and windows format to exFAT), put some MP3 files on it, connect it to usb in armrest and try to see if radio show usb and allow to play music from it

I tried many things, even open the center console and removed that aux + usb connector, checked the fuses, tried the usb memory stick, Mulf2 High has the lights on, but my stereo forgot the Ipod / USB.
My remaining option is to check if the dealer has a quick diagnostic for this... If this car takes more than 3 hours in the shop... the labor cost becomes too high for an 8 years car. That is the tough part of BMW, dealers are expensive and I don't have other reliable people in my area to work on BMW systems.
Thanks everyone for reading and giving support.

You could try one of these

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1499808

https://www.ebay.com/itm/22229273884...m=222292738841

DIy or your pocket book dies with a BMW .

They would probably just replace the mulf and reprogram it.

Never had or have Bluetooth installed in this car. I'm just trying to get to the original status of this car, when I could connect my IPod. But now the menu display only shows TUNER, CD, AUX. If I get my USB back, I may try one of these Bluetooth devices. Thanks

I agree with you all the way. Ill pay $150.00 just to run the BMW scanner. From there I'll see what to do... If I get my USB back, I may try the product offered on Ebay. Seems interesting

if you do not have local bmw indy i'll suggest you to buy carly android app, their OBD adapter and perform more advanced diagnostics or if you IT specialist in any way - buy INPA DCAN cable and install INPA or Rheingold software to perform more detailed diagnostics

If you know your way around a PC Bimmergeeks cable
and Ista d and the Inpa suite. For 40 bucks for a cable
and the setup time you can do any diagnostic BMW would
do plus programming beyond what they will do .

I'm not an IT specialist, so I think Carly would be a good way to start. However their website doesn't mention capability to check Electronics and stereo system:
Diagnostics: ✓, including engine Freeze Frames
Coding: ✓, more info, additionally available: iDrive codings (starting ca. 2005)
Engine-Parameter: ✓, test with lite version
Service Reset: ✓
Battery Registration: ✓, test with lite version
Diesel Particulate-Filter: ✓
NOx Desulfurization: ✓, test with lite version
Used Car Check: ✓
Are you sure the issue in my car would be identified with Carly?

That would be good, but I have no expertise with that. Maybe something I should learn. Thanks

Well the ability of any of these diagnostics to give you any
details is questionable. They only identify bad modules for the most
part .
More likly it will just say module bad in the case of electronics.
Engine stuff is different.
You can get down into the system with the coding but you have to
be a real IT coder guy to do that.

it will show you decoded error codes which can say about broken most ring or some unit dying
