single wall tips:

double wall tips: (start listening from 0:35 on the revving)

one thing im very sure the single wall gives a more natural "un-muffled" tone. it's more "crisp" and a bit more "echo" versus double wall is "filtering" out some of that raw original PE sound.
Is this the same car in these vids? Big difference with single wall tips..

yes Donny, believe it or not. both videos are the same car same setup only difference are the double wall cf tips and single wall bigger diameter tips

im gonna drive around with the old single wall quad tips for a few days and see how's that sound first. just got the CF quad tips out yesterday and do notice changes upon start up already. it pops more clear, more crisp... have to drive around to listen to the volume and decide.

Muffler Delete

The only difference is that the PP-Muffler hasn´t so much perforation.
OEM each side 15cm perforation
PP about 7cm perforation.

The connectionpipes are the same cause of the flap.

I've read through this whole thread and I have to congratulate the community on a great group effort!

I've been very impressed by how long this has been unfolding and I feel lucky to have it (seemingly) concluded as I'm a fairly new member here.

I may mod my driver muffler and put a straight pipe where the resonator is. If I close the flap it should divert to the pass muffler and quiet down a lot. I have downpipes and would just like it a little louder not a ton.

That should produce a close result to the PE. It should be just as loud as the PE

I'm on board with this. Having downpipes or not is still a variable because that seems to make them a bit louder.

I have also done it removed all the packing and covered the pipes with some exhaust wrap about a month ago.

Only issue my exhaust smokes a good amount. I thought it would go away but its there all the time but then again it has been very cold for the past month so who knows.

What percentage of the perforation did you cover? did you cut open the resonator in the muffler and cover perforation in there as well?

Im interested in the sound as well. My idea would be to remove 50% packing, cut open the resonator, and cover 50% of the perforation… Its a lot of work for me not to get it right the first time!

I have modified my mufflers twice now. Currently it is passenger muffler is straight piped, passenger y pipe is covered 25%. Driver muffler resonator was opened up and straight piped, y pipe left untouched. Removed about 75% of packing from each muffler.

I have cat less downpipes and 3.5" double walled tips. Car is a 2007 e92 335i.

It sounds perfect at cold start, and gurgles nicely, but once it is warmed up it doesn't gurgle as much.

For some reason my car is misfiring, so the video isn't the greatest. :-(

Did it today. Straight pipes on each side and all packing removed.

Y pipes sides untouched... so packing still there.

Sounds good (video soon)!

And no drone??? Whitefury swears that you'll get drone if you remove all the packing, which sort of makes sense I have to admit. But I guess the packing is probably most important around the pipes that remain perforated...
