Thanks Man! I worked on it a while to figure it out. I even figured out how to get zero drone. I have a catless downpipe and I still dont have any drone. Of course its louder.



*I recommend to anyone doing this to LEAVE ALL PACKING in the mufflers. Removing packing DOES NOT make your exhaust louder, it causes echo and resonance to be heard inside the car.

I have the factory exhaust which the E90 and E92 are the exact same in LCI models. X pipe.

I have catless downpipes, to X pipe, to modded muffler.

Here is the video and the 2 audio files. I put them in a zip file and renamed it to PDF so it would upload due to size.

Just rename the file to ZIP extension and there is 2 MP3's inside. I put a mic and windproof screen on the bumper to hear what it sounds like while driving.

I love the all the available information in this thread thanks to all that have contributed. I have been wanting to do a complete Dual 3" exhaust on my car for a while and I think this is the direction I'm going to go...

I already have 3" downpipes

3" Resonators to replace the Second cats

3" MagnaFlow Tru-X cross over pipe to replace stock resonator

and Modified stock exhaust here's how...

core the mufflers inside and out by replace all the internals on the outer sides of the muffler with 3" perforated and solid pipe internals as well as repacking all sound deadening material and keeping all the inner sides and crossover the same.

The only problem I think I will face is replacing the valve on the driver side with one that is 3"... Does anyone have any pics of the valve taken apart?

The goal is to improve air flow all over with out getting too obnoxiously loud.

Yes I have stock turbos, yes I will be upgrading them.

Thoughts?

I was going to put the resonators forward of the secondary cats. Will replacing them cause drone?

I am going to do exactly what you are doing except put resonators in front of 2nd cats. I think it would cause drone if the secondary cats are replaced.

I love these mods!! I had an idea I was thinking of for a while maybe you guys can help me out.

I wanted to get my driver side muffler cut out and run a Y pipe in place of it and keep the exhaust flap in place which i can open and close with the JB4. the Y pipe would go from the exhuast to the tip and to the other muffler if that makes sense.

Figured that way if your flap is open it will be straight piped and if closed you can still cruise without much noise.

@Whitefury In these videos, do you have down pipes or are you stock ? I am assuming this is how mine is going to sound when i am finished since I have no down pipes on my e92 pre-lci

Thanks man. I already cracked mine open though. I just got my hands on a sawzall and will be chopping off the perforated pipe on the outer passenger side and canister on the outer drivers side later this afternoon. Hopefully this weekend I can get it into a shop so they can weld it back together for me.
