Talking about the IS community.. how many of you knew the IS when BMW brought it to the market.. I wanted to replace my 335d, since work provided me a DD, with something more fun. Naturally I was looking at M3's when I came about a couple IS's at the local dealers. I am ashamed to say that was pretty much the first time I heard about them. After reading/watching/listening all reviews I could get my hands on for these cars I had to go for a test drive.. two days later I signed the paperwork.

What's your guys' story?
Came from an '08 335 and was in love w/that car and the n54 had MUCH to do with that. I heard about the IS from Youtube and other sources so went to see and test drive one. Also drove a myriad of other cars and the IS won hands down. I put one on order and upgraded to the BMW Performance Suspension port install. Car handles great for a OE suspension upgrade and couldn't be any happier. Adding the PSS's was icing on the cake! I am considering adding a M4 to the stable once they've been around for a bit but we'll have to see. Got alot of modding to do to the IS 1st!!

As you say, coming from a well-tuned 335is, $80K is going to be hard to swallow.

Night & Day difference and I would highly recommend if purchasing the car new and want to stay OE. If it's pre-owned, there are many suspension options that are much better than the performance suspension IMHO...

quietus, thanks for your response.
I'm probably going to order the BMW PS this week.
My car is still under original warranty and CPO after that until 2016.
I received a very good price from my local dealer for the suspension and install.
Was considering coilovers, but don't want to have to rebuild them.

Very nice, can we get some up close pics. I am debating on what to do with my calipers and hubs. Thanks.

awesome job ! any tips on how to put the coupe on jackstands from the rear?

I'm planning on painting my calipers this weekend..so lift from front middle jack point then slowly lower them on front stands

& then for the rear is the same process?

Looks good. I would have thought you would have to take the caliper off to get a good result, but your pics proof me wrong.

Well for the cost, maybe $80 at Canadian tire for the drill bit to clean all the rust, high temp paint and high temp clear coat... It was worth it in the end... Prep took awhile... It's not perfect but good enough... The part that sucked was when I was done the brakes where sticking from the paint and clear coat I got on the rotors but couple of hard stops got rid of all that... Thanks guys and sorry for all the posts. Good luck for those who want to give it a try... Just take your time

K I thought I responded to this... Start from the front on the side of car, jack it up till the rear tire comes off the ground and slip a jack stand on the rear. Repeat on the other side. Then jack from the front middle of the car and place the last 2 jack stands at the sametime

What tune are most of the IS owners using? Thinking of JB4 G5, also what map? Autotune?

I was running a JB4 on various maps but have since switched to a flash tune compiled from the vishnu stage 1 map. Fast enough for me but with much more controllable throttle response on the track.

Cobb protune by Jake at PTF. Car runs great and puts down good power at very safe levels.
I'm running Cobb FMIC and ER charge pipe.

Does anyone have a severe delay from pushing the gas pedal to acceleration? Its literally 2-3 seconds for me sometimes

YES. E-throttle sucks.

Trying to find a competent pro tuner that can tune that out, or down. Most tuners think I'm referring to throttle mapping when I mention this. not the same.
