Inspection question, which map? jb4
I live in PA, and today I set my jb4 to map 0 because I was going in for an inspection and emission test. My friend that is a tech at bmw, texted me and said that the readiness codes were not ready and thought maybe I cleared it. So my question is, should I leave it on map 0 now, and drive it for a few days til the emission codes are ready for testing. Or should I leave it on map 3 like I have been? And also, when you switch from map 3 to 0, does that automatically clear all codes. I have no check engine lights or anything so what could be the problem. Any help or suggestions will be appereciated..thanks guys!

Can I just leave it on map3 and get the emissions done?
I drove it today on map 0 and the ses light came on, and im pretty sure its because of my catless downpipe. So is there anything I can do or any way around it? Codes are 2C90, 3106

Assuming you have a catless downpipe:
Emissions testing can't be done successfully on the n55, period. The current downpipe fix available involve clearing the code (and cat readiness at the same time). You can't get readiness. To date there is no available (and working) known downpipe fix like on the n54 that can get you pass emission with a catless downpipe. On map 0 you will get the cat error code (obviously as there is none actually), map 1/2/3/4/5 will auto-clear the code so it won't show on the dash. |

yeah, I contacted terry too, and his response was that catless dp are ILLEGAL!!!" no shit. thought maybe he would have had the dp fix by now. I am not going through all that trouble to take it off and put it back on..its a pain in the ass!
my only options are right now,is to find a spanish shop or have my buddy do a waiver.

Guess the only way to do this, is to have one of my buddy do a waiver. I'll just have to go buy a emission part that is $150 or over. Make a copy of the receipt for proof of fix, then return it and get my money back lol. Waste of time, but that is the only "fix" I can think off!! Who needs a dp fix lol. I got a better fix for everyone. What's the point of these vendors selling these parts if they can't even make a fix or acknowledge not to buy it since we won't pass emission.

^^^ there is another fix that I heard of people doing... Get a car pulled next to your car when the emission is being done (as long as the tech is someone you know lol) and have them read their emission as if it was your car. I am not sure how true this is but one of the shops I was at stated this is possible for catless peeps.

They're actually pretty clear about these things not being emissions friendly and refer to them as for "off road use only". The whole reason for having cats is to restrict emissions, so a part that removes that will undoubtedly cause you to fail emissions tests unless you can find a way to trick the reader.
