2007 E90 335 with so many problems, what else can I expect? Is this "normal"?
I purchased my 2007 E90 335 nine months ago. It only had 45k miles on it, but was out of warranty. Immaculate car, very well maintained. I figured I'd give an E90 a shot given I had been working on my E46 for the past ten years, I thought I had seen it all. The problems I've had with this car since owning it are literally starting to become comical. I've never had so many problems in such a short period of time. Since buying the car I've replaced three fuel injectors, three spark plugs, a rear wheel bearing, a xenon control unit, blown front endlinks, and now I'm working on replacing the driver's and passenger's door lock actuators. This doesn't include maintenance items likes oil changes and a coolant flush, and a recalled HPFP and software. I'm also currently throwing vanos solenoid codes.
I'm seriously thinking of getting rid of this car before I get too much further in. What else can I expect from this car? What are some other very common problems? Do these nuances go away? I only have 55k miles on it now, but I don't know how much longer my wallet and blood pressure will last on this car. |

I had the same model year 335, and the car was a big PITA. It was my first BMW, and believe me I thought my last. I complained to BMWNA, and the dealership where I bought the car. Long story short, My car was bought back. It took around 3-4 months, and numerous dealership visits. I decided to go with the 328i. I now have 42,000, and I'm happy. Good luck, I know your frustrated.

I could of bought an m3 or 335 but for me i wanna buy a house in the future so i went with the 328. I could careless if your 335/m3 is faster or nicer. My 328 is still a bmw. I just dont see a point in spending more money on something thats gonna depreciate in value overtime. So i got a 328 and put 6k in mods. dont get me wrong 335 are nice cars but 328 seem to have better reviews. If i were you i'd ditch your current car and get a newer 328 with low miles.

I agree; I have a 2007 328xi and brought it in for a PPI; mechanics said it was very well taken care of, amazing price. They've since done several pieces of maintenance--brakes, battery, etc., and always tell me it's in great shape. I got it at 47k and have put around 4-5k on it since, and have experienced zero issues.
Could be a lemon, since the issues you're experiencing don't sound like they're "normal wear and tear." But I wouldn't necessarily assume it's the model or year. From what I've heard, the pumps were the big issue with the 2007 335. |

I bought my 328 with ~62k on it and it's not at 77k and I have had no problems with it at all. My buddy with the 335i and less mileage is still dealing with some HPFP and turbo related issues.

Read those two sentences together. They contradict the entire point you were trying to make. As far as the 335 goes- I've had mine since 44k. Now at 65k and zero problems. Just routine oil changes and regular maintenance.

2007 335i 6MT. Anytime I took the car in for maintenance and got a 328 AT as a loaner, I knew I had made the right choice. I couldn't wait to get out of the 328 and back into my 335i. It makes driving, even long trips, fun. And I am still able to make my mortgage payments.
Daily driver, 86K miles. Original turbos, wastegates, water pump and thermostat. You got a lemon. All manufacturers have some. |

These are in my opinion peripheral problems...the vanos thing could be leaky O rings, or dirty vanos valves...see the DIY...I cleaned mine as a precautionary thing...O rings were fine (see any of the Bimmer parts mags for kits), The other items are god awful annoying and expensive to fix, but the motors and trannys when taken care of last a good long time. If you have looked under your car, notice the streamlining that went on under there...those covers protect undercarriage pcs, help with the aerodynamics,etc...thats just cool!...There is also almost no rust on my car under there...and at over 100,000 miles there should be! I would say, if you have replaced your "lifetime" oils and fluids and keep the car well maintained...hopefully these other bugaboos will stop. I just went through a power mirror thing and thought I might have to replace them....at 500 or so each, that aint reasonable!....I ended up taking them both apart, regreasing everything, adding some dielectric grease to the connections and was able to get them to reset. crisis averted. Im convinced that all the electric motors need attention every 40-50,000 miles. they get grimy and dirty around all the parts that need to stay clean a lubricated. I just bought a high mileage car myself and have been trying to keep these things at bay....... good luck with it!.... |

Got. 07 335i here. Haven't had any problems really. Just normal stuff like fluid changes. I had a abs/speed sensor go out once.
You got a lemon. I'd sell it....

I feel your pain. 08 335i ~50k, Plugs/Injectors/HPFP/VANOS/Multifunction buttons and as of this weekend waterpump/thermostat this is all within the last year.

'07 335i Coupe (08/06 production date), so far have had HPFP replaced, the trim around the window switches on the driver's door, and a steering angle sensor. 41.5K miles, no other issues. First year for this car, more or less the luck of the draw, I'd say.

i too have 08 335i SP. Bought used at 32k miles ~18 months ago, now has around 50k. I've replaced waterpump/thermostat, it's had 3 known HPFPs, injectors, plugs, cracked wastegate, leaky transmission gasket, oil leaks... I've never been so happy to have paid for an extended warranty!
But i LOVE turning it on every morning. Good luck my friend! |

I purchased a new, early build, 2007 E90, and after 5 yrs and 40k, replaced 4 HPFP's, a LPFP, all fuel injectors, vanos solenoid, plugs and coil packs, and retrofitted an oil cooler because of high engine oil temps. My turbos whistled like police sirens on cold starts, too, but the dealer continually maintained they couldn't replicate the problem. My solution was to hire an attorney and sue BMWNA.
Nine months later my dumb ass purchased another 335
