Tuner friends said not to get JB+?

I have friends that are into tuning and they told me not to get the jb+ tune as i originally intended because it will mess up my car. But for the price i think it would be hard to beat.. Is it true that it will mess up the car?

If you search around the site you should be able to find plenty of BMS customers running the JB+ with good results. None of the popular JB, Procede, cobb tunes are going to hurt your car so just choose whichever suites you best. Of the BMS tunes, the JB+ isn't seen on this site as much because I think most people prefer the JB4 with its extra features and power.

Your friends are wrong. The JB+ is a very good easy to install basic plug & play unit.

That being said I would spend the additional money & get a JB4 for the extra power & features it provides.

It's similar to a boost controller. It's a good starter mod but a majority end up going for a full tune to reap all the benefits of power safety and functionality.

FYI, there not alot of tunes that are "bad". i cant even think of any tunes that are "bad"

JB+ is the easiest tune over all. What it does makes it think its in a higher altitude and turns up the boost. Its very cheap and gets good results.

if you mean bad as in will it make the life expectancy of the car go down then sure probably but any tune will do that. some turbos blow at 30,000 miles that are stock and some blow at 100,000 miles with tunes so know one really knows but generally more heat and more psi from the components is adding extra wear on the car but every tune will do that so to answer your question the jb+ is just like the other tunes, they arent putting that much wear on the car unless you are really jacking up the boost so you should be fine. what others have said is true though, you may think you're getting a great deal but then the mod bug hits you and you end up by the jb+ and then buying another tune later on. might as well just get the jb4 begin with. if you know that wont happen to you and you are just looking for a little extra juice then the jb+ is great! try to get a used one they go for like 150ish on here. and they are so easy to take in an out for dealer visits. the only thing is, and i dont care what anyone says, if you set it above 50% you will get tuner codes. so you should also get a BT scan tool. hope that helps.

do the solenoid bypass and set it to 75% and get a BT scan tool.

i had that for awhile and i loved it. i like 75% because anything over that and the power delivery doesnt seem as smooth

Def. the best bang for the buck beginner tune you can get. You can pick one up for about a hundred bucks used.
Ran it @75-100% for nearly two years, and never had a single issue with the car. No tuner codes, cel's.

Save your money and buy a better tune the JB+ is just a simple boost controller, trust me you'll end up with one anyways. Most if not everyone end's up upgrading (including myself).

+1. JB+ is a gateway tune. Single turbo is crack cocaine...
