Brake Pad Service Reset

I've fitted new pads and sensors to front and rear of the car and tried to reset the idrive service indicator back to the 15000 mile reset value.
When I go into the menu on the instrument cluster to do this I keep getting a ----- value where it should read 15000.
Has anyone come across this issue ?

I had this issue last week when I changed my discs and pads all round. Did you change the wear sensors?

The only way I could reset it was with my Bavarian Tech cable, I tried to do it through the indicator stalk 4 or 5 times but it wouldn't work. The first time I connected the car to my laptop, it worked.
