Who else is on the Lyra Leader? (NYK)

I dropped my car off in Munich (ED) on 5/22. Having not heard anything from my CA since I returned, I gave him a call yesterday and he told me it had not shipped yet. You can imagine my horror!! I decided to email the shipping company directly and they told me my car is on the Lyra Leader, whith an expected arrival in California (Port Hueneme) of 6/28. I just could not imagine that it was still sitting on a dock in Germany so you can imagine my releif to know it is in route. I don't know about anyone else, but I find it strange that BMW doesn't know where my vehicle is.

I did find that the port of San Diego has the Lyra Leader scheduled to arrive on 6/22 and leaving on 6/23 http://www.sdmis.org/schedule/. Even though the site listed above indicates the Lyra Leader is leaving for Baltimore after a 1-day stay in San Diego, I'm assuming their next stop is Port Hueneme. I wonder where it is now?

Anyone else on the Lyra Leader?

[ps: I think I saw another thread on the Lyra Leader a few weeks ago, but I couldn't find it. Sorry if this is redundant.]

Anybody? Maybe I'm the only one on it, but it looks like a big ship and should hold lots of BMW's.

Hi again. I'm also waiting for the ship to dock. ETA should be approximately 7 days, 8 days to the VDC!!

The port of San Diego is still showing an arrival fo 6/22 and a departure of 6/23. Unless it stops someplace else before arriving at Port Hueneme it might arrive in more like 5 or 6 days. One can only hope, but what's a few extra days after such a long wait.

Unfortunately, since I did ED, the car may take an extra day or two to clear customs and the VDC before it is finally put on a truck.

A little frustrating that NYK doesn't post their ships schedules or location. I've found several really great sites that track ships, but NYK appears to have a policy of not reporting the location of their ships (security?).

In San Diego!

The Lyra Leader has docked in San Diego. It leaves tomorrow for Long Beach. I assume the next stop after Long Beach will be Port Hueneme.

It appears I'm the only one that cares about the Lyra Leader, but for those that might be interested, I believe it is docked in PH.

Fantastic!! This is the first definitive proof that it has arrived. Impressed that the car will be released on 6/30. Since mine was a European Delivery, I've heard it takes an extra day or two to clear customs. I'm not sure why, but maybe they think somone will hide a bratwurst or some vienerschnitzel in a door panel. I'll probably try calling my CA tomorrow to see what the status is.

Thanks for the update!

Just an FYI, I did ED as well and my car arrived a couple weeks ago (I dropped it off on May 5th and it didn't get on a ship until the 17th). I was tracking it on the Hojin with about 6 or 7 other guys who also had their cars on the same ship. In terms of going through the VPC, your car is priority because it is already sold, however, the time it takes to pass through everything varies depending on how it's unloaded off the ship and the timing of the trucks. A couple guys in WA state actually received their cars before 3 of us guys in the Bay Area. Weird but true. Of course, the guys in SoCal got them first. Good luck! It'll all be worth it when it's here.

Thanks - great information. How many days from the time it arrived at the VPC before you had your hands on it? It sounds like it might not take as long as I thought.

It arrived at the VPC on the 10th (Sat) and put on a truck on the 19th. It arrived at my dealer on th 22nd. But some other guys got their cars 6 days after the ship arrived. So the differences in delivery time very greatly. I kept asking my CA if he could do anything to speed it up, but he really couldn't. It's all luck and timing from the time it arrives at the VPC.

Do you think the difference in delivery times is the result of you having done ED? Did the WA guys also do ED? Or, like you said, it all boils down to luck and timing

There were actually 2 guys from WA that were on the Hojin. The first guy that got his car in 6 days didn't do ED, but the other guy did. The other ED guy actually picked up his car in WA the same day as I did in Sac. Based on that, Ed may push it back slightly, but I think it's still more luck and timing. Remember that the two other guys in the Bay Area didn't get their cars until I did and they weren't ED.

Well, my CA told me a few days ago that on 6/29 the car had been released to the trucking company and he expects it to arrive sometime this week. If it wasn't for the July 4th Holiday, it would probably already be here. Looks like my wait is almost over.

I don't know exactly when the ship arrived in Port Hueneme, but it was sometime between 6/26 and 6/28. At most it only took them 3 days to process the car at the VPC, but it may have been only a day or two. This seems very fast, but of course I'm not complaining.

It arrived!

It arrived at the dealer yesterday (7/5)!! On Bimmerfest.com there is another guy who lives in the Bay Area and has not received his car yet. Perhaps BMW uses different trucking companies for WA/OR than they do for CA. Regardless, I finally have the car and it's wonderful.
