Been answered many times - the BavTech cable can NOT do coding such as we are doing in this forum...

So what is the deal with enabling internet? I have an '11 e90 w/Idrive and blue tooth. I thought this was a pay service? Does enabling allow internet access without a subscription?

AFAIK once you enable Internet, you can pair your iDrive with your mobile phone and use the phone's data plan to do Internet things.

Are there instructions on how to do this? I am having my car coded tomorrow (to play DVD in motion), but the guy doing the coding is not familiar with how to enable this feature. What do I need to bring to show him how this is done? |

Sadly, not quite sure. As far as I know, you need a ComBox, which is an addon that physically gets wired into the iDrive somewhere, and THEN you need to code something. That's to the best of my knowledge, having never done it and only read about it. Perhaps someone can shed more light...

Smart Top vs. Coding
I want all the features of the SmartTop Comfort roof control but I WILL also learn how to code my car. Would I be wasting my money doing both? Can I code all the features of the Smart Top? Are there some Smart top features that cannot be coded?
I have a 2007 335i convertible in the US with OUT Comfort Access. I mostly care about the following features in the following order... 1. Opening and closing from my key fob remote 2. Auto folding mirrors 3. Extended range of key fob opening and closing 4. One touch Open and close 5. Raise / lower windows from my key fob remote 6. Trunk comfort access 7. Turning engine on or off does not interrupt convertible top operation 8. Invert logic of convertible switch 9. Open and close while going 5mph. Thanks! JD |

Is the CAS TRC file only 8KB? Or am I pulling it incorrectly?
I don't see the parameters I need to change in CAS, NFRM, or KOMBI. (i.ee I was able to change the values for LCI Tail upgrade last time but when I lookin NFRM now, I don't see the parameters.) Also, is it possible to code parameters in CAS, NFRM, KOMBI from the master list (229KB)? Any ideas? Last edited by mot; 03-11-2012 at 06:37 PM.. |

I'm anxious to try this soon. I purchased a K+DCAN cable from a different source than the recommended. Mine does have pin8 installed and didn't come with an adapter. This should be fine for me as I have a 2009 E90. My understanding is I have to unsolder pin8 if I want to code F30 cars (or any car that uses pin8 for ethernet). So far I have all the SW tools and drivers running and I connected to the car with INPA and read the CAS module. I finally found the NCS_DIY.pdf by googling since the server links in the first post no longer work. Thanks to Junior for such a nice guide and to jphughan for hanging out in this thread answering alot of questions

JimVR4, do you have a link to the cable you purchased? I've seen some on Amazon, but not sure which one will work on my car.

Sorry Colonel - I don't want to lead anyone away from the recommended cable. Do your research if you want to take a chance like I did.

I hope somebody can help me.
I have read the DIY, and thanks for brilliant job. Followed it, and if I stick with the files which comes with this DIY, it reads Airbag module on my car. However if I update my files to SPDaten V45, it gives me error on inpa while reading airbag. So I just went back to stock files and tried to go for coding. 2 Problems. 1) I am stuck at step 25, and I do get that screen (in pdf file) if I go for edit profile. When I click edit profile, it stays at home screen. 2) Now if I skip that step and continue from step 38, I save back up (mentioned in step 45) and move on. I cannot find 'BC_Digital_V' in CAS of my car. So what I did, I tried 'SONDERTASTE_PANIKALARM' (panic alarm) in my CAS. After editing .MAN file, when I try to code it to my car, I get following error. Error in CABD! Look at CABI.ERR and ERROR.LOG! COAPI-1043: error during processing CBD-file CAS.C05. I tried to google this and could not get proper response. B/W my car is 06 E90 if that helps and I am using Windows XP laptop. Can somebody point me in the right direction what I am missing here.

Once you fix the files go through all steps again and don't skip any. Otherwise your profile or backup file won't be complete. I successfully coded my digital speed after fixing the very same problem. One thing I found is the clock time and date were reset to 00:00:00 and I had to set them again. I think everything else is OK.
