it is one thing to have the M-kit offered by BMW... but to go out of ur way to add M stuff that don't really increase performance... meh

read in the past that blue symbolizes bmw/bavaria, red symbolizes texaco who had close ties to bmw motorsport in the early years, and the purple symbolizes the union of the two.

The Blue represents the "bavarian sky" and the red represents the Fire or passion of racing and the purple is the two combined.

red + blue = purple

race car + street car = M car
