Well if you say so, but how do you explain the pool of oil at the head of both filters? o.O

Maybe better airflow, since the AFE intakes dont sit down in the engine bay and sit up above the engine that they would receive cooler air than lets say the BMS ones and get the better air flow without the heat shield........

Actually, in the AFE kit, the dual cone filters are stabilized by the heat shield with a bolt that attaches the heat shield to the center of the filter tube assembly. That is the purpose of the cross tube between the two filter tubes.

Without the heat shield, you are relying on the hose clamps at the factory intake tubes to stabilize the filters and filter tube assembly.

The height difference is minimal and would not have any measureable difference.

what i've gathered from other people's posts:

good: increases power in upper rpms if you have a high psi tune, cheaper than other intakes

bads: probably doesn't do much on stock tune, bmw may use as an excuse to avoid warranty work if it sees it

Does it have a heat shield? O rwhat ever it is called? Or am I confused? Does the BMS Intake make the car heat up faster or does it cool it down?

Im picking up a BMS single cone intake soon, so that's why I asked. I have SSTT with Scoops and I think by adding the BMS I will make more power? Or maybe feel a difference?

What do you guys think..?

"For maintenance we suggest cleaning with a K&N brand filter kit every 10-20k miles
depending on your driving conditions and climate. In addition you may use a vacuum
cleaner to lift any loose dirt or debris off the installed filter in between cleanings."

Just make sure when cleaning, not to use compressed air to blow out the excess water and filter cleaner before re oiling. It will ruin the pleats.Even K&N suggests not to do it.
