Adjustable Bilstein HD?

Stumbled across these. Adjustable Bilstein HD shocks. Are these available for the E90?

http://www.bilstein.de/en-uk/product...stible-10.html

Editing my own post: Looks like they are available outside the US. Product Named: Bilstein B6 Adjustable 10

More info: Part numbers!

Front: Left: 31-181914 Right: 31-181921
Rear: 26-181936

From a European 2010 Automotive Press Release:

The BILSTEIN B6 Adjustable 10
For the BMW 3 Series (E46 and E90), BILSTEIN now supplies non-lowering sports performance in the form of the new BILSTEIN B6 Adjustable 10 shock absorber. The high performance shock absorber is adjustable in ten dimensions by a thumb wheel and can be combined with every standard spring. For the aftermarket, this means that it is now also possible to customise the shock absorber behaviour to individual requirements without having to install a sports or threaded ride height suspension.

Don't see any US availability? What say you sponsors?

I saw those too, pretty interesting! I haven't seen any US availability either.

I know this is random but on the side of the website where it says "where to buy," the first entry is Afghanistan. Do you think there are any vendors over there? lol

Anyway back on topic. These are probably going to be close enough to the price of a set of KW V1s that it will be worth just to spend the extra few. I could be wrong but a set of non-adjustable Bilsteins and a set of lowering springs puts you around $800. Let's say the adjustable ones are $200 more. That's only a couple hundred under a set of V1s or H&R coils. I would much rather spend a couple hundred more and get height adjust-ability too.

I see your point, but for me I would rather have the trusted excellent quality and longevity of the Bilstein damper. Nothing lasts as long.

Yea you know I'm on the fence about suspension setups for that exact reason. I'm debating between H&R Street Performance and KW V1s coils. Or a shock and spring combo....most likely Bilstein and H&R Sport springs.

But I want the H&R coils because I personally think H&R is a better company than KW. However, the H&R coils are not stainless steel where as the KWs are. Living on the East Coast, this is a bit factor to consider.

I know there is a spray coating I can apply, but it's nice to just not have to worry about applying a coating every couple months....idk maybe more. Not sure how long the coating lasts.

I'm also stuck between coilovers or shock/springs. I want height adjust-ability, but I'm on a college student's budget. So should I dish out the extra few hundred? Or should I save it for something else? It'd be so nice to slam my car in the summer and raise it in the winter. I already have 2 sets of wheels for each season but I don't always need the xi height and if I go for shocks/springs, I can't raise my car in the winter....then winter tires are pointless because your car just becomes a plow.

WIth those objectives be careful with coil overs, most are pretty stiff, really meant for tracks and autocross events not necessarily the streets. Also most will be lower than the stock oem sport suspension even when set to the highest setting.

That's a good point. I never thought about that. I know the H&Rs allow you to drop the front a bit more where as the KWs leave a bit more rake up front. But I think as long as I can get a little bit of fender gap between the wheels, I should be good.

Thanks for bringing that up. I think I just made my decision.....V1s. I think that bit of extra front rake will help out in deeper snow. Hopefully, they will last.

What kind of springs would you pair this up with other than h&r or Eibach?

I am thinking the stock BMW springs, either sport or non-sport.

Just an update. I have heard back from a few US dealers of Bilstein. None have these in the US yet and are not sure when they will be available in the US. Plant the seed with your dealer, we'll see if they can get Bilstein to bring them over.

I need to change my shocks and I am considering them, BUT they are like 700EUR ($900) for a set, 3 times more expensive than Bilstein B4 monotube gas-pressure shocks. Given this, I am very reluctant to spend this amount of money which is about half of a KW V3 kit...I am thinking of just replacing my shocks with Bilstein B4 monotube gas-pressure (dirt cheap - 245EUR for the set) and get the KW V3 coilovers later on. For $900 you can almost get a ST V1 coilover set...

Ouch - Bilstein must be very proud of these! Maybe the price will come down if they don't sell OR they will prove to be very good and worth it. At $900 this almost 50% more than the regular B6 in the US (~$630). I think I would still pay it if they can be made significantly softer and more stiff than the std B6. Coupled with some EPK or std oem sport springs and you would have a nice streetable system.

According to Bilstein, B4 are twin tubes... you're thinking of the B6s, maybe? A set of B6s are about $620 in the U.S. Those B4s do look like a great deal though.

I agree it seems priced about right. Custom valving a set of B6s would cost the same, but most don't know ahead of time what valving they want.

The B6 Adjustable is about 50% more expensive than Koni Sport (Yellows). Doesn't seem fair They do adjust both compression and rebound simultaneously with the same knob (Koni only has adjustable rebound), but I see this more like a handicap...
