It's standard BMW procedure to injure yourself while tugging on the knob

Pair that guy with an M3 wheel, it's heavenly.

Kinda like an initiation, hah.

I thought about it for the sake of uniformity. Maybe I'll buy one for my 21st birthday.
I've never driven an M3, so curious as to how the steering wheel feels. What's it like?

It's a lot thicker wheel, not as firm as the sport wheel in terms of gripping (almost as if there is a very thin layer of foam wrapped under the leather). It's complete leather and the tri-stitching is awesome. You can use the sport wheel trim or snag an M variant.

If I could go back to 2010 when I picked up my first e92 335, I would have already had the ZCP knob and M wheel waiting to install. I transplanted both from the e92 to the current e90. They are well worth it.

You can get the wheel used for $200-300 in the classifieds. A lot harder to find a 6MT one IMO. I got a stellar deal from a good local friend who had installed the crazy performance wheel with the LCD screen in his e93 M3 and it was DCT. You can't see the paddle indents or feel them, never has bothered me. Both Pinder and Jspec have used it, they can chime in too (heck it was Pinder's first mod I believe, he was so sold after using mine).

Here are a few pics (had wood trim and swapped in aluminum, wrapped the center in matte black as I couldn't locate an aluminum center in good condition at the time):

That does sound nice.

I did find a 6MT M3 wheel with the M trim still on it for like $300 shipped/plus ship. I'm thinking about it. Thanks for the info. I'll probably find out if I pick it or not by tomorrow.

Don't tempt me! I'm trying to control myself with mods. I just wanna make sure CPO covers my now non heating passenger seat first before I continue buying mods.

But the matching knob and wheel does look really nice. Looked at the DIY to swap, and doesn't seem hard at all.

Jealous of the aluminum trim! I want to switch to that so bad. My walnut burl makes me feel like I'm NOT in a sporty sedan. Aluminum is the best one IMO.

Hehe, sorry! Hopefully they sort out your seat heater. Thanks and yes it's an easy install. Alum is solid!

I've got the ZSP steering wheel before BMW offered it with the silver trim (which I don't care about anyway) and I liked the feel of the M3 steering wheel more than my ZSP. The leather of the M3 steering wheel definitely feels more comfortable in your hands (at 9 and 3) and gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling when steering.

Agent11BR saw my interior when I wrapped the wood trim in brushed titanium vinyl and then again when I replaced my entire trim kit with OEM brushed aluminum. The brushed titanium I got was a good, subtle difference from the all-black interior. The brushed aluminum definitely sets off the interior. If you can't afford to get a trim kit, definitely consider vinyl wrapping.

Top is wrapped in brushed titanium. Bottom is OEM brushed aluminum. Not the best photo but brushed titanium was darker and it also had texturing to it.

That steering wheel I was watching got sold early yesterday morning. Not that sad, since that's $300 I didn't have to spend right now, haha.

That trim looks great. Did you wrap it yourself? The trim is definitely on the low end of my to do list. Maybe I'll have my trim wrapped by you when I get around to it.
Also, the M3 rep bumper was on my list to do too, but again low, and was gonna talk to you about that when the time came as well, haha.

I am/was a big fan of the brushed titanium myself, Jspec did a nice job wrapping his up and it looked great IMO. It was a darker, less contrasting, look though too like he said. The aluminum pops more. It really boils down to preference. And vinyl wrapping is a great, low cost alternative to getting a new trim set. It's not too difficult either, just takes time and patience.
