BMW's U.S. Certified Pre-Owned Car Sales up 24% in 2009

Quote:
In what appears to be more the result of the ongoing global economic and financial crisis than anything else, BMW reported that in the first two months of 2009, its Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) sales in the U.S. are up by a staggering 24 percent to 19,000 units and the company is on track to beat last year's record number of 104,000 units. That's compared to the firm's 34,9% plunge in U.S. new car sales in the first two months of the year (12,979 units in Jan/Feb 2009 vs. 20,775 units in Jan/Feb 2008).

that makes sense. Its the same reason why Walmart is exceeding expectations. People are looking for deals.

Drive with your heart, Buy with your head, and good luck finding a manual with the options and mileage you want.

A lot of people are buying their leases as well, which they account into Pre-owned sales as well. With the deals their giving off the contract residule price who wouldn't? I'm 95% sure I am.

I totally agree. A CPO 6MT is hard to find, so that's why I pulled the trigger on my 330 in '06 when I found it with 13,900 miles (1 year old 3/05 build).

Im sure the fact that they are trying to trim back leases has a positive effect on the CPO numbers also.

CPO deals

Originally I wasn't even looking for a newer 3 series but ended up buying my 07 6MT coupe from a dealer late last month. They kept dropping the price until it was below NADA book, which totally shocked me since they never give anything away. It lacks the sport package and while I would have liked to have the sport seats, I can live without them since it only has 24k miles on it w/remainder of full maintenance and CPO for 100k. I bet I could have gotten it even cheaper if I waited another week or two.

that is rather interesting, but I guess seems semi-logical if anything. I've been to a few of the bmw dealerships around here lately and they don't really seem as though they are hurting that badly...but maybe I'm wrong
