so I just picked up my 6MT 335is...Im trying to change the shift knob...in my old e92 you would just put it into 3rd and pull off, this ones not giving, wondering is it different to change

Yes I forgot about that, I had to buy the performance boot it was cheap like 16 dollars

Don't think you can buy just the boot. I think it's all one piece. Don't see it
here and I remember when I had a manual that was the case.
