N55 PPK installed..idle roughness and hesitation.
Just bought a used 2011 335i xDrive. Had the PPK Version 1 installed (software update) and now I am noticing that when warmed up the idle gets slightly rough at times and there is also a slight bit of hesitation when accelerating from a stop. Any ideas..anyone else notice this? How do I verify I have the latest/correct PPK installed?
Thanks |

335i has a "slightly rough idle" straight from the factory, no need for any PPKs. Frankly, I'd say that my idle is more than slightly rough. The common consensus is that that's the way it is supposed to be in 335i. Stick vibration on cars wit MT also looks too intensive for an unaccustomed observer.

I have a 2011 335i x-drive without the PPK, and it's the same. Slightly rough idle, and a hesitation when moving from a stop. I think it might be because of the x-drive.

Mine was at the dealer today for the same reason. In fact, it coughed so hard that it made the car lurch a bit at a stoplight. They said the car is 100% normal, no codes.

Idle is fine on my PPK V1, but I do get the hesitation issues sometimes when letting off the brake, mostly when in DS mode. Still enjoy it, however, and will probably mention the hesitation to the dealer when in for routine maintenance just so it's on the record.

I appreciate all the information. Im really considering going with the PPK because of the issues with voiding warranty. I would consider a flash for the reason that its not a pain to take out and put back in. Interested to see what Cobb puts out.

Running the PPK software since 4 days
No problem with idle roughness Even have the feeling that it improved the idle! Had a bit rougher idle before the PPK... |

Drive mine for about 5k km, not much difference. Intermittent rough idle, but driveable.
I am also paranoid that the install was erased by the dealership somehow. You can ask them to scan, the ppk software upgrade is linked to your VIN.
