This tells us this: if you want ultimate performance Corvette is THE BEST CAR IN THE ENTIRE WORLD FOR YOUR MONEY (I am excluding Nissan GTR since it is more expensive and not a daily car). But if you want good combination of performance, luxury and comfort, BMW is one the best ones out there.

You may spend tens of thousands of $$$ on your e92 but it will never be able to beat Corvette LS3. I just can not figure out why people spend so much money and deal with warranty issues result of mods on BMW instead of getting a pure performance car like Corvette if this is what they want.

Some people claim that that drove LS3 and did not feel faster than e92. How could you compare brand new car to car with 8-10K miles already broken into. Do any one of you remember how much slower your car was when it was new? Also comparing car with 100+ octane to 91 octane is a stupid comparison.

Drive LS3 with 5K+ miles then you will understand what I am talking about. Because I did and it blew my mind (I have JB 1.3 on mine by the way...)

So instead of having unrealistic dream like beating LS3, why don’t you guys just enjoy what you have???

Just me 2 cents…
Last weekend coming from the track I hung pretty decent with a GTR from 80-140. He was 'maybe' 1 car infront of me. Had JB3 Map 5 around 105oct.

Also had the priveledge of watching a drunk c6 owner run his new car into the sand pit. Why people drink and drag race amazes me. How someone can miss ALL three exits and total their car into the sand pit is even better.

LMAOOOO.

Delayed reaction... I guess he thought that the race wasn't over yet and held on to it.

I would have died laughing if I saw that.

Not sure how this is possible when a stock GT-R traps ~ 120+mph and has 485BHP/430 lb.-ft. TQ. There's a BIG performance difference between a sports car like the GT-R and a tuned 135i/335i that traps ~ 113-115mph and has ~ 350-380RWHP. Not saying it's not true, but maybe the guy in the GT-R was just toying with you from 80-140mph. Either way, he'd lose you in his dust after 140mph.

I had a chance to chat with him for about 30 minutes while we were waiting to line up (before the track was shut down).

I don't doubt for a minute he'd destroy me. I just don't think their mid range right there is outstanding - at least compared to their low and top end. He may not have been WOT who knows. Got the thumbs up as we exited

Most people in these "expensive" cars shift early to "protect" their engines so this sounds reasonable if that was the case.

What is the GTR putting down? 440 AWHP and 390 AWTQ?

I guess they have a 60 whp advantage so if he is not pushing the car to the max, a few cars ahead sounds reasonable.

Remember, the GTR is getting those times due to their amazing launching ability...
A Z06 is still taking them on a highway roll.

If you factor in the weight, even 430 is only about 9lbs per hp. Not out of the range of a 335/n54 on highoctane

I lined up against a stock GTR at the track and I have to agree that they're aren't all that fast on a roll. He roasted me off the line as I was nervous and asleep at the tree. Street tires and being a novice didn't help me either. Anyway, once I woke up and stopped spinning, his lead didn't open up much more past half track. He ran 11.8 to my 12.5 (my worst of the day) but his trap was just 3 MPH better - 118 to 115. Tuned ones are a different story!

There you go...

420whp and 3836lb curb weight.

On a roll, that's in the territory of a nicely tuned 335i.

I would say a 335i with JB3 1.3, DP's, intake, 100 octane, map 7 should take it or be side by side at least.

Or am I wrong?

The 335i should be putting down at least 400-410RWHP and considering that it is 200lbs lighter, should give the 335i the advantage on a ROLL.

yup sounds about right, a fully tuned bolt on 335 w race gas and lets say 17-18psi can hang with a bone stock GTR. Put a tune on the GTR and its lights out.

For an extra $995, add the Cobb Tuning AccessPort (which I wish was also available for the N54 ) for an add'l +63HP / + 70 lb-ft. TQ and yes, the GT-R is long gone.
