CIC Europe West Premium 2017-2 maps

FYI, for anyone who wasn't aware the CIC Europe West Premium 2017-2 maps are out now and torrent appeared here last night for the single USB version. Maps loaded on my car and working fine (ps the details.txt file included in the torrent says it's EAST not west but if you check the Info_Map.imp file it says West...)

http://www.bmwfsc.ca/map-data/

For anyone who needs it, map code is 0x28 0x2b

Update: Also get lane guidance on turn by turn directions in 2017-2 which is an unexpected bonus:

You will need the fsc code for your idrive to upload these maps as I understand it.

You can get this code yourself by following the steps in this thread:

You may have a problem, likely to have old firmware that freezes mid update. Suggest you get firmware updated, new firmware also gives ability to navigate to post code if I remember correctly so very worthwhile

Free if you buy £12ish cable and follow the instructions here, can do all future map codes yourself then. Depends what car you have, if you have pro nav and only 1 DVDs slot in car then you want same version I have (I'm in uk, it does uk and various other European countries in the one map update). See details.txt in the torrent to see all countries.

I believe firmware update will involve removing CIC unit from vehicle for a 'bench flash', various people on here who do coding are capable but never needed it myself. Not sure on that cable, have only done this with my OBD->RJ45 cable. If you get the CIC unit flashed I'm sure whoever did it would have no problem taking a few seconds to get you the required file anyway.

OK thanks, I know that Sam used to do it around my area but he doesn't anymore. Any ideas who around the London area that would do it? It's all starting to sound like headache.

Are you definitely running CIC nav? 2008 is realllllllllllly old!

FSC codes can be had on ebay for £10 or so. I'd not bother with the hassle of the cable stuff when you can just buy a code.

Good point, think cic was 2009 onwards, are you sure you only have 1 DVD slot? Google cic vs ccc for example screenshots if not sure. At that age you may not have the cabling to the obd port either, might be better trying the usb-> rj45 option. I'd rather pay £12 and do my own codes whenever I want than pay £10 twice a year but that's an easier option, I certainly don't want a lifetime code!

Yer defo CIC, my cars 2009, large screen, one cd slot, hard drive and more buttons on the idrive controller than the ccc, its just the first release one so comes with the first version of maps which im sure is from 2008. Roads change a lot in 10 years lol. FSC code from ebay for £10 sounds good to me seeing as the cable costs that and never mind trying to do it lol.

To be honest Iv gone this long with old maps im sure 2017 maps will do me ok for the next couple of years and then the cars gone.

So what about the firmware and would this mean i need to do the 3 USB install?

You'd need to speak to someone who does coding, I'm just repeating things I've read on here but if I had to guess I think you'd still run into issues with the 3xUSB version though.

Wasn't expecting any feature upgrades but the 2017-2 maps actually come with proper lane guidance for each turn now which is a welcome bonus I always have the split screen on with turn by turn directions shown when navigating, now get lane guidance at the bottom for every turn where there is more than one lane, that wasn't there in 2017-1! For example:

My 2010 CIC also needs the firmware update, but the 2017-1maps work ok on it just can't use the 7 digit postcode. Comes up with "unknown destination" every time it starts, might stop If I were to put in a proper address but tbh I can't be a**ed so just hit the ok on the idrive and off it goes

did a quick search and found this:
"If your vehicle was built between 09/2009-03/2010, you will need a firmware update to update using any method (USB or DVD) due to a bug in the firmware. You are welcome to try, however the update will most likely fail at 93.7% and abort updating.

If you vehicle was built before 09/2009, you can only use the DVD version of the update to load the maps into your vehicle unless your vehicle firmware has been updated by a dealer sometime past 03/2010. Then you can use the USB version if you wanted."

7 digit postcode also requires a newer firmware...

Ps if you have the 'tick' in bottom left of the nav screen like this picture that should mean you have new enough firmware to get the update...
