I've got an engine leak on my `08 E92
Noticed a wet hose at the bottom of the driver's side front engine bay.
First shot is looking up from the center front of the engine looking towards the drivers side. Second picture is looking down from drivers side front fender. Third is the leak path on the plastic skid plate. Looks like it coming from the large hose and dripping down onto a couple smaller high pressure hoses underneath. I took it to the dealer and they said this was within the normal as far as leaking. Am I loosing boost pressure with this leak? The engine seems to loose more than typical power above 5500rpms. I know power rolls off but I don't think to this extent. Dealership did replace three injectors and the low pressure fuel sensor. Have not driven enough to tell a difference yet. Thanks, Craig |

Typically the oil filter housing leak isn't just located in that one spot-it follows the front of the engine and spreads out. Are you sure it's not from previous repairs on a hpf replacement and the tech made a mess and didn't clean up properly? Some seepage out of the charge pipes is acceptable but that's alot of leakage if that is indeed what's leaking. Clean the area and monitor it

I really looks like it's from the charge pipe. Dealer cleaned it up so I'll keep a lookout on it. If it is indeed it's coming from the charge pipe would this reduce boost?
Previous owner said, right after all paperwork was done for the vehicle transfer, that he had to add a quart about every 7K miles! He also said he had it changed every 14K miles, factory recommended interval he said... |

That is a lot of oil from a charge pipe. My money is still on the gasket. His car isn't young either. |

Follow-up:
Well after another two more oil changes and about 15K miles, I saw some oil when I removed the lower panel.... but much less oil than before. Took it to the dealership (with pictures) and they replaced the intercooler piping under warranty (~$520 in parts I'm told). I also had them walnut blast the intake, definitely runs stronger. |

My oil filter housing gasket was leaking pretty bad, it made a mess everywhere. All bmw i owned i had to change the vcg gasket and the oil housing gasket. For some reason bmw can't get these gaskets right from the beginning...Loll
